Well we got the list. Not to much different then the last couple of years. Here is my vent though... why in the world don't the stores stock up on things BEFORE the list come out. I have been to Walmart and to Office Depot and can you believe both are already out of wide ruled notebook paper. The list were just released on Thursday! It is like the stores don't know when school is going to start. I could understand if it were the weird things like vinyl folders (still trying to figure out what these are) but this is paper for pete's sake! Every child in the country is going to need paper and most under 6th grade are going to need wide rule so why wouldn't they have enough on hand? Needless to say I am totally frustrated :umm:

Staples has 150 sheets for 15 cents this week, limit 5, and vinyl folders for 25 cents, limit 8. Clicky for circular

Walgreen has 325 sheets (wide ruled) for $1, with a $1 rebate. They also have spirals 4/$2, with a $2 rebate. Clicky clicky.

I'm going to start stocking up this week on the basics. I remember from Sean having had this same team of teachers in middle school that they color-coordinate folders to subject and so request x amount of blue, purple, red, green, yellow, etc. folders. I think I'll head to Staples tomorrow!!

It might cost a little more, but I recommend going somewhere different than Walmart and Target. Even if they get a shipment it you'll need full body armor to survive the crowds around here. I was at Michael's a couple of months ago, and I remember thinking "this is definitely where I am coming for school supplies". I'll pay an extra $5 - $10 to get what I need without being trampled on.

My favorite is when you live in a small town, where Wal*Mart and Target both distribute the lists (complete with aisle numbers so you can "easily" find the item) but don't carry some of those items. Last year, DS1 needed extra long sheets of manilla paper. Neither store carried it.

    I wish we'd get a Staples.

Vinyl folders are pretty self explanitory instead of the cheap cardboard folders they want you to buy more expensive plastic ones. They do last a really long time though

I've always bought the vinyl folders. They usually last the entire year and don't fall apart like those cheapy paper ones.

Our general 4th grade "pre-list" of supplies is pretty short this year. I'm sure the girls' individual teachers will give us their own classroom supply lists the first day of school which is a bummer as all the really good sales are NOW and not in September when school actually starts! . We went to Staples last week (?) when they had a 1 cent sale. There were only about 5 items they listed for a penny with a limit of 3, liquid glue was 9 cents with a limit of 3, and folders were 10 for $1, so I got the limits on everything and came out with a bag full for $2  . I guess I should make anothe trip this week for the wide-ruled paper and the glue sticks. Thanks for the link, rosie. ;)
