    Hi Moms!

I went down to PT a few weeks ago and I had all these big plans. Going to the park a lot, playing outside a lot, doing lots of wonderful learning activities etc. Um, yeah. SO anyway, I feel like I'm even lazier than before :( I'm just so exhausted!

What kind of things do you do with your kids? Mine are 15.5 months...

Right now they are playing with laundry baskets. We do swim once a week and music class another night. But it's during the day I feel like just sitting here and watching. Ugh!

Your not doing nothing, you're watching over them! :) I've been told many times that they learn through play and "imaginary play creates knowledge". We play a lot inside and out back and go on walks.
I have to remind myself all the time that just because I'm not having fun doesn't mean they aren't.

There are a lot of days where we do the same thing over and over again. My twins are really into drawing and reading, so it is something they want to do several times a day. If the weather is nice we will go for a walk, play on the back deck or to the playground.

I got this book called, "Fun with Mommy and Me," and it gives you ideas that you can do with teh kiddos. Right now I work PT, but that's coming to an end soon. I will be home with them FT -- I have lots of plans like crafts such as homemade playdough, playgroups, etc.

    Hi,
I usually do one outing every afternoon. We live in So Cal, so the weather is usually nice. We go on walks, to the park, target, farmer's market, play date, etc. We drive around and visit different parks in the area. Yesterday we went to a civic center and I let them play with the water wall sculpture (wall with a thin coating of water falling down). They got soaked and had a blast. I'm going to try a swimming class in Oct and see how that goes. We don't do anything fancy, but I feel better if we get out and about in the world. I figure everything is new and interesting to them. If I stay home all day I get crabby and kind of lazy. I do a lot better with structure. I went to Costco this week and spent 40 bucks on some play equipment. It's a set that has two tunnels, a play tent and play house (all made out of tent material). I pull that out at home when they get bored and need a new activity.
    Laundry baskets sound like fun!

I got the costco tent/tunnel combo too... the kids love it. I work FT, but am home a couple days a week (working from home), so I dont interact with them much. We do play, read books, and they climb on me a lot. While they're playing we make animal sounds and point out things like where's your brother, where's the dog, stuff like that... but they find the most pleasure emptying and refilling the drawers with their toys.

    Hi there-
Please don't feel your children's day has to be filled with outings and activities. Just letting them play at home is wonderful for them and you. Dragging little ones all about is tiring for them and in my opinion, should be limited at this age. It sounds like you have a few weekly activites planned and I would say that's enough. Just let them play and enjoy. :)

THank you for posting this! I will be a PT SAHM soon, and this was one of my concerns aswell. We live in a real rural area...It's great to know there are others out there who feel like I do and I'm not off my rocker!

Thanks everyone for your advice. I always think there's more I could be doing but it sounds like we all do the same sort of things, and I'm sure even if its lame to us its fun for the kids.
