I have finally decided it was safe to register and post on this twin forum after my u/s today. I actually got my bfp on 12/4/08 and went last Tuesday to my RE to have my 1st u/s...and to my surprise it was TWINS! We had actually been ttc'ing since Jan., and had done 8 rounds of clomid, the last two rounds we added hcg trigger shots, and we were actually taking a break from meds until after the new year when we conceived. At my u/s appointment, twin b's sac was alot smaller than twin A, and my RE told me that there would be a slight chance that Twin b would even make it let alone be on my next u/s. So I left that appointment dazed on confused, sad to think that I may lose one of my babies, but excited that there was a chance of us still having twins.

I went today for another u/s, but this time at my ob/gyn. We saw two heartbeats! Twin b still has a smaller sac. I guess by looking at the measurements, it's not that much smaller to me. Twin A's sac is measuring 5wks 0days, and Twin b is measuring 4wks 4days. As far as crown to rump length, Twin A was 6wks 5 days, and Twin B was 6Wks 2Days. I believe that their heart rates were 118 and 120, but I could be wrong b/c it was so small on the screen. We asked my ob what the chances were that they would both make it, he didn't know that percentage on multiples, but he said on singletons that if you see a heartbeat there is a 90% rate of a viable pregnancy.

DH is worried that the small sac size would cause complications for the baby, as far as birth defects, etc... I didn't know if any of you had a similar situation? Twin b's sac is probably about a third of the size of Twin A. I am going to try to post the pics of my 6 week u/s, they didn't give us any pics today. If you could let me know what you think, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help in advance!!!!!

I have no idea as I'm completely new to this twin thing, too, but I wanted to welcome you and congratulate you on your babies! I'll be anxiously awaiting updates from you to hear how well they're doing :)

I didn't have a u/s until 12w so I don't know much about interpreting early ultrasounds, but what you described sounds promising to me! Congratulations on your twins, and welcome to Twinstuff!
