Hi to all you wonderful moms... I'm Lori from Boston, i'm 28. My husband and I found out a week and a half ago that we are 7w 4d with twin A and 7w 2d with twin B!! (fraternal) We are very excited and this is my first pregnancy, as well as the first grandchild on either side of our families. I have my next ultrasound on Wednesday morning, and i'm trying to think positive through all the "vanishing twin" talk that the doctors gave me. There were 2 heartbeats that we were able to see. I've been a lurker for the past few days and I just wanted to thank everyone for all the previous posts in which you gave other newly expecting moms positive advice! It was so encouraging to me!! trying to get through these first tough ultrasounds and make it to 10-12 weeks is not easy! Hopefully i will be here with you all for the next 8 months or so Thanks again, i'll let you know if they find two beauties on wednesday!
Hey! Welcome, you found the place to be! Just a quickie.. But I assume you are thinking Fraternal because there were 2 sacs and 2 placentas, but that doesn't mean that they are absouletely frats.. Identicals can have sepeate sacs and placentas too.. CONGRATS!
how exciting!! HUGE CONGRATS!!! and just like pp said -- even if they have seperate placenta's and seperate sacs - they can still be ID -- (there are several members on this site that can attest to it also WELCOME!
I have been a little confused about the mono/di/ID/fraternal stuff...i'll have to do more research! there were def 2 separate sacs and placentas...when will i be able to find out exactly what they are?

When they are born, and you may have to do a blood test. about 66% of identical twins share a placenta, and about 33% have their own placentas. Either way, two placentas is good- it puts your babies at less risk!

Someone posted the following link for me that has been very very helpful in understanding the whole fraternal/identical issue. Sometimes even the nurses and ultrasound techs don't totally understand this issue and may incorrectly tell you that your twins are fraternal. The chances are that they are fraternal statistically, but they can't say that with all certainty. http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/PLACHTML/PLAC101.html
