Hello all, I just barely found this site, wish I'd found it sooner!! I am 28 weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins and have been on hospital bedrest since 20 weeks. I went in for a regularly scheduled appt and found that my cervix was wide open, dilated 2cm. Went over to the hospital and found I was in active labor. Baby A's bag of waters was bulging through my cervix and they had trouble stopping my contractions. Tried niphedipine, indocin, and terbutaline. Finally a high enough dose of magnesium stopped the contractions and the next morning my peri pushed the bag of waters back up and performed an emergency cerclage (double). Miraculously enough we've made it without water's rupturing, infection, or increased labor. Until this past week. Once I came close to 28 weeks, my contractions increased in frequency and intensity. They doubled my niphedipine and they seem to be dying down again. At this point my upper cerclage is no longer holding and the bag of waters is down through that. The lower cerclage is holding, but I have no cervix below it (maybe 2mm). So that emergency cerclage is the only thing keeping me shut at this point. I still hope to make it past 30 weeks, but I know that it could be anyday. Hey, it's been anyday this past 8 weeks though and we've hung in there! I've loved this time of still being pregnant and spending time with my babies. But I am so tired of the hospital. My biggest complaints are the food and the nurses. Some nurses are lovely, some are not, I'm sure you all have experienced this! I've struggled to gain weight in the hospital despite drinking 375 calorie Ensures. Anybody else have this problem? Fortunately the babies seem to be taking all they need. My son weighs 3lbs. My daughter weighs 2lbs13oz. Very exciting. I can't wait to meet everybody....

PS Brooklyne, I met you on FT, my screen name is kgwife there =)

    Hello!!!!

Nice to see you've found your way over here!!! The more support the better!

Your story is incredible! I never realized how much you've been through!

There were some nurses I disliked, but majority of them were very kind and caring. There was one nurse I really loved, however, I hated how she handled the quarantine issue. She basically told me I was in contact with someone that has a highly contagious superbug and if I have it, it will be the most awful thing. I asked questions because I never heard of MSRA before and I was told to google it!!! Then she never came near me again. I felt so betrayed!

I struggled to gain weight in the hospital too. I was told this is normal. As long as babies weights are good, I wouldn't worry!

Hooray for reaching the big milestone of 28 weeks!!! Time will start to move quickly now!

    Hi Amanda!!

Your doing great! I was in the hospital for 8 weeks! I just had my girls on April 1 at 32 weeks and 2 days.
I totally feel ya on the hospital food and NURSES. I think I am a totally layed back person and I believe I'm a
very kind person :). But ya know, some of the nurses pissed me off when I was in there. I won't go into total
detail, but I asked not to have one nurse again. She was just very short with me and I didn't like it. It was over
something SO stupid. Ya know when you have to take your vitals all the time?- Well she came in real early in
the morning after they JUST did it an hr ago and wanted to do it again. Half asleep I told her they just did it recently.
Well she coped an attitude and said she had to do it too. I mentioned it to the Dr.s and he said I was getting my vitals
done dbl the amount I was supposed too. Women with preclamsia get more often-yes, but my condition with a short/funneling cervix- No. Anyway, some were cool, weird, nice, strange...You would think they would be better trained
to work with all of us emotional pregnant woman. i don't mean to kiss our *** and baby us, but just be a little more
compasionate and TRY and understand what we are going through. It's a very sensitive time and a lot of things are going
through our heads at this time. And we see the nurses all the time. For me, a lot of the times, the nurses messed up
on my charts! That's what really got me mad. Few times on meds, my gestation, Dr.s... Sorry to go on and on...
but I totally understand. I am home now, I'm always checking to see how all you girls are doing because it feels
like a second ago I was on there feeling all the emotions of what your going through right now. Hospital stay is
tuff. Just remember.... it's a short time of your life. I know everyone says the same to you like- hang in there.... well
it's true--- hang in there honey, be strong for your little ones. You've gotten this far, your doing awesome, pat yourself
on the back. Or, treat yourself to some food that will deliver? Are you in a good location where they can deliver?
I live in Atlanta, so I had some decent places that delivered around the hospital. Take care and please keep us
posted! I will be praying for you 3!!!

    Hey Amanda!

I've been in the hosp. for 4 weeks and on home bedrest since mid March. Food is def. not great and weight gain a struggle. But I must say, I have good nurses, thankfully! Your babies sound like they are doing great! I would write more, but side-typing is the pits, haha, right now!
