Hi Everyone. Someone told me about this site - thankfully!

I am 8 weeks pregnant with twins. We found out about the twins only the day before thanksgiving.

Here's a little about me. I got married in 10/2002 and pretty much got pregnant on or around our honeymoon while I was on birth control pills. We had TJ in July 2003. He was an ounce shy of 9 lbs and I birthed him vaginally quite easily.

Fast forward to last year in October, we decided to start TTC. We tried and tried to no avail, I had taken myself off BCPs and my period wasn't regular. It kept being irregular for the first time in my life. So, I went to my OB and she suggested to do bloodwork but in the meantime she gave me provera to get me to start my period and then we did Femara to ovulate. A few weeks into my cycle, we found out I have hypothyroidism. Hmmm - probably why I was having the problems to begin with. Anyhoose - not only did I ovulate, but we got PG on our first round with twins.

I was SHOCKED and frightened to say the least. By BFF just had twins who are now 10 months old. I've seen her struggles and although her girls have had health issues, I know through her eyes what it is like to juggle twins. Maybe that is why I was so frightened.

I also have a 15 year old step-daughter that will be 16 in March. She only comes to see us once a month for two nights.

I am struggling with how to juggle bedrooms because right now SD has a room to sleep in that will be the baby's room. We don't have any other bedrooms. If it had been a single baby, I would have left a bed in there for her to sleep in and then have the baby sleep in our room two nights a month. That's not going to work anymore.

So, needless to say, SO MANY of our plans have changed.

But I can say that my husband has been the best through this. Not once has he been anything less than excited about having twins. He is completely calm and collected about it - opposite of me. Perfect balance, for sure. I am still really worried about being able to afford TWO babies and juggle everything else.

We plan on cloth diapering and formula feeding (I am unable to produce milk). Formula alone is like a car payment :( So much for that new truck next year!

I am due 7/11 but my wonderful doc will not let me go past 38 weeks, so we will be having June babies for sure. I am tall and each baby has their own sac - two great things to play on my side.

Anyhoose, I am glad to be here and hope to get to know you all soon!

    Welcome to TS and Congratulations!!!!!!

It is great you have a good friend with twins, yes it might make you panic more at times but also she will be able to answer questions, give suggestions and so on.

Your husband sounds like mine...calm and collected...driving me crazy lol

Good luck with the bedroom situation. We only have the two bedrooms, one was my husband's office, which he has to have since he runs his own business so the poor guy is now in the basement. I feel bad, but he doesn't care.

    Hi!!! Welcome to TS!!! :D

I tried BF but didn't produce enough. We started with Enfamil formula but through recomendations from friends and even the Pedi. we moved to the Kirkland brand of formula. If you have a Costco near you I suggest checking it out. You get 2 cans of formula with the DHA & ARA (compare it to enfamil and Similac and you'll see they are all very close) for just $20. We only spend about $60-$100 a month for formula. Not bad at all considering our boys drink a lot of formula. ;)

Good Luck and many blessing for a happy healthy pregnancy!!!

congrats! what a treat to find out before thanksgiving too! im sure if DSD is only there one or 2 times a month; she can sleep with the babies in the room on a cot or pull out --kids love to camp out in the living room too -dont forget that-i wouldnt worry so much where she will sleep-keep the room u want as a nursery--
In the begining we will keep the twins in our room in a pac n play until they get too noisy or need thier own space; we have no rooms available atm our ys isnt quite out of the crib and wont share his brothers room yet-they would never sleep!

I would't worry too much about the sleeping arrangements - like PP said, DSD probably won't mind a pull out every so often. And a big ditto on the formula - if you've got a costco or sams where you are at, make the investment! I can't even imagine how much money they have saved us over the past year and a half.

    Again, welcome and congrats!!

    Thanks Ladies!

My ped told my BFF that the generic formula is just as good as the name brand... except specialized formula. Of course, we had to have the rice-added formula for my DS because he had really bad reflux. It was okay with meds and the added rice formula - but man, was it expensive!

I am PRAYING that these babies don't have reflux. I imagine I will be spending a lot of money at SAMS and buying their formula! Between that and cloth diapering, I really hope to cut my costs!
