Hi, I stumbled across the board after finding out yesterday that we're expecting two. I am 6 weeks pregnant, due July 28, 2009. There were 2 strong heartbeats on the screen. I am excited but very nervous about expecting twins. I have a 3 year old daughter from my previous relationship and while we're both excited about having 2, I am more nervous of how my daughter will do once they arrive. She'll be close to 4 when they are born, but I think back to when my parents brought home my brother and how much I hated that.

Looking forward to getting advice from all the experienced moms here. ;)

    Congratulations & Welcome!!!!

Your daughter will do just fine. Just make sure to include her as much as you can. ;)

Not necessary, but when we had our 2nd daughter--our oldest was just a few days shy of turning "3", we made sure her new baby sister had a "Big Sister" present (Aquadoodle) waiting for her at the hospital when she came to see her for the first time. She's 6 1/2 now & still mentions that! lol Of course, now we'll have to make sure their new baby brothers have "Big Sister" presents waiting. lol Just as long as you make her feel very important and included she'll adjust. Try not to worry. :)

Best wishes for a happy & healthy twin pregnancy!

I am not an experienced twin mom yet but I do understand the nerves of just finding out that you're expecting more than one! I think it took about a week or two for it to sink in, although it's still very surreal. Congratulations on your two new little ones. I'm confident that it will be great!

Congrats on having twins! It's really special. My DD was 3.5 when her sisters arrived. She was very excited. We took her shopping for a gift for the girls and they bought her something. All of our friends and relatives were great with gifts too and often included Corinne. She spent a lot of time with her nana, aunts and uncles when mom and dad were so tired. I don't know what we would have done without our family and friend's support.

She did have a few adjustment problems. She wanted to be up at night with us at first. We had our hands full to say the least and getting her to bed was difficult. When they were 6 months old, she asked me what the word "attention" means. I told her and she said "well then I need more of that"! We do our best. It must be really hard to be the big sister of two very cute twin sisters.

I had to adjust too. My DD has been my heartbeat since she was born. I did not get to bond one on one with the twins like I did with older DD. In fact, for a while, it was only when one was sick that I got any prolonged one-on-one time. This made me really sad. They don't know any difference but I do. It's better now that they're older but it's still not the same.

Enjoy your pg - get as much rest as you can.
