Hi :) We found out at 5 wks that we were pregnant. We'd been trying for a few months. Well, I was having some fairly heavy red spotting/bleeding at 7 wks, so at 7 wks on the dot I went to the Dr. and they did an ultrasound and voila! twins :) Which we are very excited about btw. But the bleeding has been on my mind. Well I'll be 9 wks tomorrow, and I haven't had any spotting or bleeding in just over a week and a half. Until last night and this morning. It's doing it again. I have a Dr. appt. tomorrow, so I hate to call and be naggy again. It just really worries me. That and I'm still worried about vts... at 7 wks I got to see them both and hear both heartbeats...

Is spotting/bleeding like this something any of you experienced as well? I hear that it's more common, but it doesn't seem to settle my nerves. Agh.

    How do I stop worrying?

I have learned that you never stop worrying. But there are things that can ease some of that! I think spotting is way more common with multiples. I'm not sure why. I did not experience it, but I know a lot of the ladies did. And it was no big deal. The fact that you've seen the heartbeat is a great sign! I think the percent of miscarriage (and this might be a singleton rate) is only 5% suffer loss after hearing a heartbeat so thats great numbers. I hope this helps! And don't worry about nagging your doctor- you employ them! You pay their bills. You should always call for spotting and they can ease your mind. :)

Congratulations on both the pregnancy and the TWINS!!! I agree with what's already been said, you employ the doctors call them. That's their job and they shouldn't mind putting you at ease.

I experienced spotting/bleeding with my pregnancy very early as well. It would come and go and I spotted until about 10 weeks. My doc told me that once you see both heartbeats, your risk of miscarriage is extremely low. I would go ahead and call just to be safe, that is what they are there for. HTH!

That is how I found out we were having twins I woke up at 7 weeks with spotting and panicked. I called the Dr. and I was on the US table within 20 minutes. They told me that spotting is very normal, but if it ever happens again to immediately call them. It's better to go in then to sit around worrying, IMO! :) I also agree with the Pp's regarding being able to hear two heartbeats that the odds of miscarriage drops.

Good Luck and try to strong strong.

thanks for the responses :) i called my dr. they're going to do an ultrasound before my appointment tomorrow... i'm supposed to stay off my feet... and they told me that if i had any more bleeding today i was to come in and not wait until tomorrow.. she did say too that the spots she could see on my ultrasound from last time were not nearly as bad as what she usually sees when it's serious, but she said she didn't want to give me false reassurance, but that it didn't appear to be threatening

    thanks ladies :)

    i'm glad i called... my next scheduled u/s isn't until the 25th.. i'd have gone batty :)

I had some red, clotty bleeding at 6 weeks (a LOT of blood--ruined a pair of white jeans). But my babies are just fine.

I think bleeding during pregnancy is way, way more common than anyone realizes before they go through it. Try to relax (I know that's difficult!!!) and call your doc for reassurance if you need to!

I bleed early on too on a few different occasions- once for like a week and a half. I had a pocket of blood inside that they were not sure what it came from- that dissolved (we think) and they just chalked some of it up to sensitive cervix! If you had sex with your partner in the last few days this could have done it too! For whatever reason the cervix just sometimes likes to bleed!!! Try not to worry too much- I am glad you called- like everyone else said- that is what you pay him for!!!

I have had bleeding/spotting (and even passed a big clot around 7 weeks) more often than not with this pregnancy. I'm about 14 weeks and am still spotting. At my u/s's the RE, and then the peri, did see an extra pocket in there. The peri confirmed at 12 weeks that it was actually a triplet that didn't make it. It was reassuring to know there was a reason for it, but it's still disconcerting when it goes from light to heavy or from brown to red. I just always call and the OB helps me feel better. And they told me never to hesitate to call for reassurance!

I had spotting/light bleeding from about 7 weeks until almost 10. My doctor did a vaginal ultrasound at 7weeks 2 days and confirmed that there was a small pocket of blood that had gathered at the bottom of my uterus...he said that in early twin pregnancies sometimes one of the embryos will pull away from the lining causing the lining to bleed but that 98% of the time the blood will either dissapate or you will spot until it is resolved.....my doctor did ultasounds every 4 days until 10 weeks and put me on 2ml of progesterone shots each night and 4 estrogen patches to ensure the lining of my uterus would remain thick.....

Try not to worry too much (easier said than done) and I hope everything goes well

That is exactly how we found out we were having twins. I had a lot of bleeding so I called my RE (we did IVF) and they immediately brought us in and did and u/s and it was twins and we even saw 2 heartbeats at 6 weeks. I spotted on and off until about 12 weeks. I NEVER stopped worrying about it. But I was also told by the RE that it was very common to spot with multiples. Congrats on your pregnancy.

Yes, even though the spotting or bleeding could be nothing, call your doctor. Good luck, congratulations and let us know how you are making out. You get a lot of great advice on here!

Well.. I'm back from the Dr. and we had our ultrasound.. We have just one baby now... but the one baby looks to be doing great, growing a lot and so that's good. Sad about the other still, but at least we were prepared.

    Thank you ladies :)
