New here and pregnant with twins...

Hi! I am currently 13w5d pregnant with twins. I have been lurking here for several weeks, but am just now introducing myself. I'm a first-time mom, so I will have lots of questions. Right now, I am just wondering if you all know of any good websites to find consignment twin items such as strollers, car seats, etc? I know Ebay of course, but are there any others?

I don't know of any places online...although I think there is a board here that sells twin items...check out the main forums page!

 

Welcome to TS!! This board is the best. As for consignment stuff, I would definitely check on craigslist (like ebay, but for your local area--so no shipping) and then cruise some yard sales. We found a brand new fisher price aquarium bouncy chair and swing and got both for 30 bucks total! We already had one of each of those for our singleton, so we weren't really even looking, but stumbled across it. You would be amazed at how much baby stuff people are trying to get rid of that is still in great condition. Also, there's always kid-to-kid (I'm not sure if that's nationwide, but it's a consignment shop for kids) and other stores like it. You've still got time, so just keep an eye out and I'm sure you'll find some great deals. Good luck!!

Congratulations on the twins! I've found lots of used items via my local Mother of twins organization. Beyond gear, the MOT groups are a great source of support and a great place to meet friends. I did not see where you were from, so I can't tell you if you have an active group in your area, but I'd investigate it. National Org of Mother of Twins Clubc

I highly recommend used equip cause you go through it pretty quickly and there's lots of stuff that you can get that's lightly used and really helpful. Good luck

Hello everyone! I am waiting for my twins to be born! I know I'm only in my 25th week, well I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow, but I am anxiously awaiting their arrival. I am just feeling miserable with the weight gain and sudden change to my body. I've gained 34 pounds so far, and in one month I gained 13 pounds. Some say that it is no biggy as to the amount I've gained considering the pregnancy times two, but my dr. was like telling me I am only supposed to gain a certain amount. I went back to the dr.'s two weeks later (This past week) and I only gained 4 lbs (so two pounds per week). The dr. said I'm right on track then.
They are moving around like crazy too, and it feels so weird compared to just one in there. I can't tell which is which or what position they are in or anything. I can't wait for my next ultrasound, which is in two weeks.

I would as others have suggest the Moms of Multiples groups in your area. We live in Houston and there are four or five different groups all of whom hold twice a year sales. My dd and I went to four of them in the fall and got just about everything she needed. We did find some stuff on Craig's list but for things she wanted two of and somewhat matching she wasn't as lucky. The MOMS groups should have a spring sale that you might be able to so well at...

Congratulations and welcome to TS! Definitely try your local Mother's of Twins club garage sale. My girls are 3.5 years old now and I still buy pretty much all their stuff there.

My biggest advice to you is don't buy a used stroller- I did ( a Graco) and one wheel came off when I was on a ferry by myself with my 3 month old twins, It was a horrible experience. I then bought a double babytrend ( new) and it was crap, so about 6 months later I finally caved and bought my zooper double ( which has been good) I also bought a double chariot jogger ( also awesome)
So unlike other baby items spend on a decend stroller, they really take a beating and you don't want to keep having a replace them.
check out craigslist for used stuff, I've bought some great items that way. Good luck, and congrats again p
