New beds-when does the crazy excitement die down?

What are other twin sets doing???
We just took our daughters out of cribs three nights ago and put them into twin beds with side rails. They are three at the end of the month, or three (corrected) at the end of December. We waited until now because we had a third baby and didn't want the drama close to his birth or soon after, now he is almost five months so things are fairly settled.
ANYWAY-they are super excited by this new freedom and I think a little nervous. Did anyone else find they were constantly putting them back to bed? Before, I would put them to sleep and have my evening free, now I am standing guard by their rooms for at least an hour until they crash. I know it's only been a few days-did you find that they got over it and just WENT TO SLEEP at bedtime after a while? I am trying to keep up the house, do the laundry, plan their little birthday party, etc. etc. and night time is the only time I really have to to these things, and I am feeling overwhelmed!
    Thanks everyone.

It sounds perfectly normal what your girls are doing. My DD did fine in bed for bedtime but nap time is when she would be up an down, exploring her room, rooting through things. I would sit in her room until she fell asleep and just quietly put her back into bed. It took her a couple of weeks until she was fine sleeping in bed for both nap time and bed time.

it took a few weeks for us, and yeah, i had to sit in their room until they fell asleep. as far as nap time, i had to sit in there for MONTHS. basically until we gave up naps. i would just bring my laptop in there and surf the net till they fell asleep lol

We had no problems at bedtime but did have issues at nap time. (We separated our kids at different ages. DD was not even 2, but was climbing out of her crib). It should settle down in a few days or weeks.

Thanks everyone...these things are so interesting...it's like we plan every single detail to the 't' but don't anticipate the what-ifs! My whole routine is out the window now! Sheesh. Thanks again!

We've been in beds for about a month now and we still have to sit in their room at nap until they fall asleep or else they will fall sleep too late. At bedtime they are starting to settle but still play a bit before they fall asleep. We just shut the door and have a doorknob cover on it so they can't open it and let them play. If it is sounding too rowdy or getting late, then I will go in there and sternly tell them it's time to get in bed and go to sleep. It's getting less and less that I have to go in there.
