Ok so I just joined this site. I heard it through another twin mommy I talk to.
Im on bedrest and have been since 22 weeks.
I had a gush of fluid come out of me and it was alot but got to the docs and they couldnt find out were it came from. They think it might have sealed back up because i havent had any more episodes and both boys still have great fluid around them. thank goodness. and then the next week I went to my high risk doc and she was checking my cervix and a normal ultra sound as normal visits and she seen that my cervix had went down like i have been at 4cm the whole pregnancy and when she checked it two weeks ago it was at 3 cm. So i have been taking it real easy trying to . I have an appt with my ob today and hopefully we will find out more. I was wondering if anyone went through this or similar or could give me some awnsers or anything this is my first pregnancy and im really nervous i just want the boys to be as healthy as possible .
    thanks

Hi Mandie, welcome to Twinstuff. :wavey: Congrats on your twins.

It really just depends on each pregnancy. I have known some people to go on early bedrest and then make it til 35+ weeks. Me, I went on at 24w and had an emergency cerclage then as well. But Emilie was just bound and determined to come out anyway, 10 days after my cerclage, even though I saw both my OB and peri that week and they both said everything looked good.

Lots of luck to you and we are here. Glad you joined us. :)

I also agree that it depends on each individual pregnancy. I went on hospital bedrest at 24 weeks for PTL, funneling, and dilation and made it to 28 weeks 1 day. A good friend of mine went on bedrest at 20 weeks with her twin pregnancy and made it to 37 weeks (as is the case with many women on this site).

Bedrest is so hard, but its definitely worth it. Everyday you can keep those babies in, is 3 days they dont have to be in the NICU. Follow your Dr's orders!

I hope you have a good appointment today. Let us know how it goes! Good Luck!

I didn't have any experience with leaking fluid; however I was put on full bedrest at 28 weeks due to a shortened cervix. The biggest lesson I learned from my twin pregnancy (it was my first pg) was to trust the doctors. I was very careful, but I don't think I took them as serious as I should have. Luckily for me, I made it to almost 36 weeks before having to deliver (emergency c/s) due to low platlette counts. Both of my boys were healthy and required no NICU time. Definately stay off your feet as much as possible and enjoy the peace and quiet. Once those babies come there will be little time to yourself :)

Sorry to hear that Mandie. Please follow your Drs orders and stay on strict bedrest, it is not fun, but definitely what is best for your babies. I would try to lie as much as possible to keep weight off your cervix. :hug99:

Im sorry :hug99: Make sure you follow your Dr's orders. Its so hard, but it will all pay off in the end. Do you have someone that can help you out?

Some of the things I used to do to pass the time was TS (of course), I did my entire baby registry (and it was actually better because I could read all the reviews before I picked something), manicures, read magazines and Blog. I am so happy that I kept a blog of the entire time I was on bedrest because now I can look back and realize how far we have come. It also helps to keep people informed so you dont have to repeat the same story a thousand times. Another thing that helped pass the time was to keep a schedule of daily activities. That way you still have structure and control over your life (even if it is from a bed), and you will have things to look forward to.

There is a bedrest forum on TS, so feel free to check that out for more advice and support. Good Luck! Stay positive, it will help you and your babies!!

I am glad they are keeping your DH home to help you out, that is great. :) Sorry he is gone all day, I was in the same boat. My DH would pack me a cooler of food before he left for work and bring it up to our room. He even put things in there for my oldest DD for her breakfast since she was here with me as well. Is it possible for your DH to do this for you each day?

Hey there- take it easy and take this seriously. It's good you don't have children, that makes it real hard.
Enjoy the fact that your home and not in the hospital. Because that would be the next step. I had the same problem, but
went into the hospital at 23 1/2 weeks and stayed there until almost 32 weeks. Went home and 4 days later--delivered!
It's hard, but your home with your hubby. Try and relax as much as you can. Lap top, TV and cell were my friends!

Mandie, I have been on bedrest since 23 weeks for a shortened cervix, never lost any major fluid but had two different bleeding spells along the way. They measured my cervix around 1.5 cm but it stayed around 2.5 cm for weeks before shortening again. It's scary and frustrating to be stuck lying down all day but you can do it and hopefully it's all you need to keep those babies thriving and your cervix nice and strong. I am in my 12th week of it now and each week gets me closer to the finish line. Just focus on getting to each doc's appt. That's what really helped me. I took it week by week and it eventually passes and you start to feel better the longer you keep those babies in. I try to lie on my left side most of the day, drink tons of water and avoid the stairs. You'll do great and it's great that DH can be there to help you out. It's also comforting in some way that your doctor is watching you closely. That way you know you're doing all you can and that they will be monitoring everything as you go along.

Hope to see you posting about your full term delivery in a few months!
