Hello I am new to this Forum. I am currently 26.4 wks pregnant with Di/Di Twin girls. This is my first pregnancy. I am due Nov 3. Everything has been going great up until now. I had an appointment with my doctors today and also had a cervical length and growth scan done. The good new was that my cervix is 4 cm long and closed :D . But unfortunately Baby B is falling behind on growth :( . Baby B is 1lb 10 oz and Baby A is 2lb 1 oz. A falls in the 75 percent and B is in the 35 percent, plus they said baby belly size is a little small. So the maximum different between the two of them is 30 percent, which is the greatest difference they want the twins to be. My doctors did not seem to worried about this yet. They told me that they will be monitoring the babies a little closer now, so I will be now having BPP every week and growth scans every two weeks instead of every month. The doctors said there is nothing that I did or can do to help baby B grow. They also said the profusion from both placentas were normal as well as the amino fluid. Although they do not seem to concerned at this point, Mommy (ME) is very anxious about this news. Please let me know if any of you guys have had a similar experience with this! I really appreciate it! I am trying my best to stay relaxed. But i am very nervous now!

    Thank you,
    Carla

My Baby B was always behind in size than Baby A. I also had USs every 2 weeks to check on growth of the babies. And the size difference just got larger and larger as we went along. The doctor was never concerned because even though Baby B was behind, Baby B was still growing at a rate he was satisfied with. I was put on bed rest eventually to deal with this in the hopes that Baby B would grow more if I wasn't using the calories I was taking in for myself, and for contractions.
Baby B, my little girl, came out smaller than Baby A, my boy, but totally fine. My boy actually had more issues than my daughter. She came home from the hospital with me.
So try not to be too concerned (easier said than done I know, I would freak out at every ultrasound) and know your little baby will probably be just fine.

27 weeks is about the time mine started doing this type of discrepant growth. We did lot's of non-stress tests and monitoring. Each week was a worry. I had them at 36 weeks and baby A (the one who always measured small) was 1.5 lbs heavier than baby B the one who always measured right on. I'm not saying all U/S are off that far, but we had them weekly and they consistently showed concern over baby A's growth so when she was a full 1.5 lbs heavier - you can imagine our surprise. And now, our little one who was 4.8 lbs and 1.5 smaller than her sis is a full 2lbs larger than her sis now.

    My point? Don't worry!

My baby b was always smaller than baby a! Baby A was 7 lbs 1oz when born and baby B was 5lbs 10 oz, and they were both fine, and both came home with me :) I know that it can seem unsettling, but your doctor seems to be on top of watching them so that is good :)
