Today my Baby A twin, Landon, had an appointment at Duke Children's Hospital for his head. We feared he had Craniosynostosis, but thank got the doctor does not feel this is the case! He diagnosed him with Plagiocephaly, which can be corrected without surgery! We are so so releived!!!!

I am not sure if others have gone through this, as I know it is more common with twins. The doctor we saw is nto a fan of helments and belives the end result is the same, so as of now we are not looking to go that route. However, I am curious what others have done in this situation.

    Thanking god tonight!

I am kinda in the same boat. We are waiting to see a pediatric neurologist at the end of the month to rule out Craniosynostosis in our one twin. I am hoping for the same result you got so I was glad to see that it can happen. I hope that all goes well with whatever route you guys take with your little one.

So glad he doesnt need surgery. If you search "plagiocephaly" or "helmets" in the FY search box, you will find lots of BTDT advice.

:yahoo: I'm glad he doesn't need surgery!!

My ds (baby A) had to go to the children's hospital for evaluation of his head and I feared the same as you that he may need surgery. Turned out he didn't and like your doctor, our doctor didn't think he needed it either. My ds's head was (what looked to me as) very misshapen but we did follow the doctors recommendation and now at 3 it is nearly perfect. I'll always be able to see how it's not exactly round but that's because I've examined his head so much.

    That sounds like great news.

My son Michael just spent 11 weeks in a cranial helmet for what we thought was positional plagiocephaly caused by torticollis. We've seen improvements in his head shape, but there are still significant concerns and we're seeing two craniofacial surgeons later this month. My orthotist (helmet maker) requested a CT scan but the original CFS told us it wasn't necessary. Now, I'm regretting not pushing the issue because there is a high likelihood Michael has multiple suture closures on his head. You can feel the ridging in his metopic and lamboid sutures and his head is still kidney bean shaped on one side and dented on the other.

My recommendation, if you haven't already, is to get a CT to rule out cranio.

    Good luck!

    That is fantastic news! :woo:

My two had plagio, and we were able to correct it with aggressive repositioning.

My two had plagio and are in their helmets right now. We tried positioning for 2 months before that.

THat's great news---yeah to no surgery!!!

Mine had plagio and we have used the helmet for 10 weeks and saw a huge improvement--very noticeable for us, so glad we did it.
