Conner typically drools & is a messy feeder, so he gets a lot of moistness under his chin. A lot of times it isn't noticable b/c of his chub, but occasionally you can see his bright red rash under there. We're getting pictures taken this weekend with their cousins & I want to make sure it's gone so it doesn't show up in any of the shots (how they're going to pose a 4 yr old, a 15 m old & two 9 1/2 mo olds is beyond me!)!!!

We've tried vaseline, butt paste, & the prescription cream we have for Aiden's eczema. We're also quite careful to TRY to keep it dry (which is next to impossible with the constant stream of drool lately).

Anyone have any other suggestions? All of the above ones work in time, but with pictures being so close, I'm hoping someone will have a miracle 'cure' :)!!!!

elidel worked great for my daughter when she was an infant. She had really bad exzema on her face. Prescription only though. Is that what you tried already?

Other otc creams are eucerin and aquaphor that may help.

ETA: Gentle Naturals also makes an exzema cream. It's ok too.

Does it help to keep a bib on to contain the drool and keep things dry. I think I would work really hard to keep it dry and put on a cream you know works. You have 5 days. I bet it would be good.

have you tried hydrocrotozone. The OTC can be used on the face for short periods, just don't use a lot so they don't "eat it" is what I was told for DS's eczema. We've only done it 2 times but it worked like a charm.

For DD I have to keep vazaline/aquaphor on it all the time - apply to dry/clean face. If I am super careful to always be on top of it it usually is gone in 3 or 4 days.

    good luck

You could ask the photographer to airbrush the rash...that is if all else fails.

if its from drool the best thing is to try to keep it dry but constantly patting it dry could make it red. what i used for my DS he used to get it all around his mouth from the paci and just drooling was by playtex baby magic daily protection lotion for faces. it says right on it for drool. it forms a barrier so the moisture from the drool doesnt irritate the skin. it cleared up in 3 days. i also kept applying it while he was drooling heavy. good luck. let me know how it does for you

I have used this on a variety of rashes, and it works wonders! I get it from Walgreens, in the baby section.

I would try a combination of wash really well after feeding + a nice soft cotton bib to help absorb some of the drool + slather it with baby aquaphor. this happens to Callie and that combination seems to clear it up within a day.

Aquaphor and it will be good in a day!

Thanks for all the pointers. I forgot to add that we've tried Aquaphor, too. As for a bib, it's above that, so it wouldn't help. It's literally in the crease of his neck & head/chin area. It's about the size of a quarter. It's NOT eczema.

I will try some of the above things & will REALLY get on daycare to keep him dry. I think I'll send along the Aquaphor in the meanwhile....

Thanks again! 5 days to go to get rid of it!

I wonder if he has a yeast infection in the crease of his neck? Try using some Lotrimin athlete's feet cream on the area. If it doesn't clear up you might want to have the pedi look at it as well.
