I was walking by my kids' elementary school the other day and stopped by to say hi to the principal. She asked me if I'd received an email she'd sent me, but I hadn't. She said that the state test scores had come in (they get them before they're sent to the parents) and that Caitlin had scored a perfect 600 in Science and that she was the only one in 5th grade to do so. Only 5th graders are tested in science and I think this year they also added social studies. Everyone else does English and math. Anyway, I was obviously very proud and told Caitlin about it when I got home. The bad part is that I can't really tell several of my friends about it because they have 5th graders and I don't want them to feel like, "my kid is smarter than your kid," and Caitlin can't really tell her friends without sounding like she's tooting her own horn, so I get to at least brag here. I also didn't want to say anything in front of Sarah because I know she struggles more with tests and she would definitely feel bad about it. But I am very proud of Caitlin. The principal thinks I should encourage her to get more involved in science. Well, if it has to do with horses as well, that would be okay! ;)

Holy cow! That test is hard too! I have administered it, while teaching fifth grade in CA, and there were a few questions that I had to think twice about. That is really awesome!
