This is prob TMI, but I really need some suggestions about how to help my constipation. I am eating LOTS of fruit and bran, I am going to turn into a bran muffin soon with the amount I am eating. After I had my son I had to use mineral oil in orange juice, but it is gross and would like to try something else before I try that. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Have you tried eating prunes? I ate a serving (it's about 4-6 depending on size) every morning of my pregnancy and had almost no issues at all with constipation. They also make cherry, orange and lemon flavored prunes if you don't like the taste. Good luck!

Are you staying well hydrated because that can also make a difference and i have more problems when i'm not drinking enough. Making sure to eat enough greens will also help clean out your system. Apple juice is another thing that can help out (juice for softening, and apple sauce if you have the opposite problem). If none of that works you can always go the root of stool softeners *shudder.*

I eat a fiber one bar about every other day, that seems to help.

PP have given good suggestions already (staying hydrated, prunes, apricots, prune juice)

    You could also try:
a glass of metamucil daily (or another fiber soluable drink)
    miralax
Fiber one products will help get the extra fiber you need
Glass of hot water with lemon will help stimulate your bowels

Best of luck! hope you feel better!

You have got some great suggestions already, and I agree with all of them!! Making sure things are moving down there is very important, because you dont want to inadvertently push too hard and potentially cause some problems! I hope you feel better soon!!

My doctor recommended a magnesium supplement called Natural Calm. It really works for me. It's a powder that you mix in hot water and drink at bed time. Since I've been using it I haven't had a problem. It's completely safe to take while pregnant.

Try prunes, or prune juice, it was a big help for me. I had to stay away from bananas they made even more misearble. Also drink lots of water and walking is helpful too. Hang in there.

Yogurt! It works great for me, either the fruity kind or the vanilla frozen variety. I feel very sick taking stool softeners but yougert, once or twice a day, works like a charm!!!! Good luck!!!!
