Need something as loud as a box fan

We use box fans in the twins room when they sleep (on the highest setting). We are going on vacation and in order to break up the drive we are taking 2 days to drive there and 2 days to drive home. We really don't want to have to lug a big box fan in & out of all of the hotels (just for a one night stay). Does anyone know of some kind of white noise machine that is as loud as a box fan, but compact enough for easy travel?

 

My girls have listened to http://www.purewhitenoise.com/p-72-babys-fan.aspx cd since they were like 6 months old. you just have to have a cd player with you!

 

We have a small electric heater that has a fan-only mode. It isn't quite as loud as a box fan, but it sure is close.

 

We use an instrumental cd in a laptop for all our traveling. DH has to have his computer with him, so we just put the cd in before we leave.

 

We use a white noise machine that I got at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for 20 bucks ... it is really small, can be played really loud if you want ... my girls sleep to the rain but the ocean may be the closest you can get to a fan noise. I have found that when we go to my in-laws and I use their white noise machine on ocean instead of rain, they don't even notice the difference.

 

Vacuum noise cd off of amazon on repeat! It's PERFECT! It's baby noise cd or something. I have five of them in case!

 

I googled box fan noise yesterday and came across some of the CD's. I thought that might work on repeat. For those who use the CD, do you play it all night or just until they fall asleep?

I don't think mine really need the noise to fall asleep. We just use it to block out household noises.
