ok...I will try to make this as simple as possible. Here is the deal. My DD was 10 lbs when she was born. as a result we did not use the carrier infant car seats, CICS, for very long. It was too heavy. We switched her over to a convertible care seat, 5-40 pounds, and I loved it. Before we found out this pg was twins we were going to just buy the convertible car seat and skip the whole carrier thing, the one we used with DD was borrowed and is currently in use. Well then we found out it was twins we were having so things changed a bit. KNowing that they will probably be smaller and there will be two of them I thought that the carrier with a stroller set would be great. We have friends who said they would loan/sell us their car seats/stroller from their twins so I have been counting on that.

Ok....we found out last night that one of their CICS was in an accident rendering it useless. The insurance company took it too. So they have only one CICS. So here is my dilemma. Do I buy another CICS for the other twin so that I have two even if we only use it for a few months? This way they will both go in the stroller when we go places OR do we just get the convertible so we only spned money on one car seat for one twin and then use the CICS until ready for the other convertible? I have a 2.5 year old and I beleive in baby wearing so honestly I had already thought that I would wear one twin, put the other in their CICS in the stroller and let DD take the other seat so that she is contained whenever we were to go somewhere....I just don't know. I know this is not our friends fault but I am frustrated now and just unsure what to do.

For BTDT moms of twins am I crazy to think that only one carrier will be ok and wearing the "extra" baby will work? Plus I know DD and I are pretty active now, I am SAHM, BUT will we still be after twins are here? Who knows? And for other twin mommies to be...what are you doing?

anyway...sorry this went on so long but I just need any suggestions or honest opinions you can all give me. TIA!

i have a singleton and twins on the way, so i'm only halfway btdt. i would recommend buying two of the CICS, and the universal snap-n-go (not sure what the brand is) to snap them into. because it's just the frame, it's lightweight and a better option, IMO, than the 'travel system' stroller for twins. i think you will use that for a very long time. you can also buy an inexpensive single stroller, for the times when you want to push one, carry the other. that type of stroller will be useful for years.

When my twins were born, I had a 2 year old son. I used the Graco DuoGlide with the car seats that snap in. It was great - They fall asleep in the car and you don't have to wake them to go anywhere. We used the carseats for a year before we had to get new ones. They were only 3.8 and 4.2 lbs at birht - at 1 they were 19 and 23 lbs. They were heavy but convientent.

I am not a SAHM so I don't go alot of places with all 3. It is very difficult to take them all out - Now my girls are 14 month and my son is 3 1/2. We now had a side by side stroller and my son walks - usually I am yelling at him to stay close.

Please note that you can only use rear facing convertible car seats as long as they lowest slots are not more than 1 inch above their shoulders. More than 1 inch would mean they are too small for the seats (even if they meet the weight limit, usually 5lbs+), and then you would have to put them in an infant carrier anyway. Depending on the type of seat (and how low the lowest slots are), there is a very big chance with (smaller) twins, they will not be ready for a convertible.

For measurements (lowest slots, etc.), go to: http://www.carseatdata.org/measurements.php?tun=home

I agree with pp. Having an infant carrier is a must for me because when baby is sleeping, it is soooo nice not to have to wake them up. I have loved being able to take my carrier everywhere. There were many times when dh and I stopped to eat somewhere and just put ds right up on a table in his little carrier, never even having to disturb him (and getting to eat in peace!) Also love the fact that they snap right into the stroller. The carrier was a life saver for me, and I've already gotten the ones for the twins ready and waiting! Good luck!

From what I've read from postings on this site and others I agree with tbqmomofthree. The Baby Trend Snap & Go stroller frame and two CISC seems to be the favorite of many twin moms even if you can only use it for a limited period of time. You should check out this stroller frame, I seem to remember reading that you can adjust the frame for different brands of car seats, so you may be able to buy just one CISC and the frame. But this is all just recollection from what I've read, since my twins aren't due till Nov. so do a little research on the Snap & Go frame to see if that works for you.
