    Hi Ladies,

I have a very dear friend who has had the blessed good fortune to finally adopt her dream baby! She is 2 weeks old and has a dairy sensitivity and is on soy. She is having a hard time with soy and hates the taste of alumetum (sp?). I'd like to offer to donate some milk to her (I'm positive her mother will be open to and appreciative of this). I'm more than honored/humbled to help this sweet baby. How can I do this? My girls don't take bottles so I rarely pump anymore. However, I've been pumping recently because I use a bit to make my solid foods. So, do I just start pumping after my girls nurse and see how much I can get? Even if I can give her 10 oz. a day it's better than nothing. Is this okay as long as it's extra? Will my body clue in to make a bit extra soon?

    THANKS!

    ETA: I'm dairy free.

Everyone's different, but I had a tough time pumping after feeds - couldn't get a letdown for a while after. If your little ones are going a while in the evening without eating, you might be able to get more in one sitting if you wait a couple of hours after the last feed...It took me a week or so to start getting a fair amount after I started pumping again. A little fenugreek or mother's milk tea or tincture will help, too.

That is so generous to offer. Your friend could also breastfeed herself. I did this with my adopted daughter.
    Here's a great site to start. http://www.fourfriends.com/abrw/

When I was preparing to go back to work I started pumping about 20mins after their first feed of the day and also their last (so they are already in bed). It didn't take long for my body to be "trained" to pump at those times and I could get 10oz's a day that way.
I wouldn't put too much pressure on yourself, pick feeds that you can pump after and try your best!!

Such a great friend you are!
