Well, we got our infant seats today, and I have been really concerned about them fitting in my car with my daughter's seat. Well, my fears have come true, they don't fit! I need some advice on what to do now... A new car is not an option for us at the moment.

First, my car is a Pontiac Vibe

We have a 3 year old who is currently 38lbs and 38 inches tall. She is currently riding in a Britax Boulevard w/ 5-point restraint. Is she too small for a booster? I know the guidelines are 4 & 40lbs. She will be 4 in April.

The infant seats we have are:
1 Graco Snugride and 1 Graco Safe Seat

Any suggestions on seats for all 3 that will still be safe, but may be a little smaller? We are going to go to Babies R Us tomorrow to try some, but any recommendations would be great!

    Thank you!!!

I had this same issue over the weekend, read this thread I posted, there are great ideas and forums to go to that can help:

Thanks, our issue is more that the car is not wide enough to fit the three seats in a row. I am wondering if there are any ideas on narrower seats that may be available.

I read on the car seat safety forum that the Chicco and Combi carseats are narrower than the Graco. We were able to fit 2 combi's in our Corrolla (very narrow) in the middle and passenger side, we could have fit a 3rd infant seat if needed, not sure about the sizes of convertibles.

My DS is 2 1/2 and already has to be in a booster becasue of his size. Could you possible get a toodler booster combo that is a little narrower for you DD? She is close enough in age that she should be fine in a booster I would think. Unfortunately I am no help on the infant seats but I am sure you will get a lot of helpful ideas. :)

I had the same problem, and am getting a Sunshine Kids Radian for DD to replace her Britax Marathon. It is the narrowest convertible on the market, and still highly rated for safety. I can get that and 2 Chiccos in my back seat. I believe PP is right in that the Chicco'c and Combis are narrow for infant seats. Good Luck!

The Toddler boosters start at just 30 lbs! so that should help out with your delima! I am not sure which brands...but if you go to www.Babiesrus.com and search by boosters, then by weight...that will give you some ideas!

    Take care,

you can find boosters that begin at 30 or 35 pounds. they have backs. and the good news is that you can get a good one that is not expensive.

Just an update... We think that we may hava a solution to our problem. At this point I am not happy about the seat that we have for my 3 year old, but we may be able to change things yet again and still use her Britax. Currently, we kept the Graco Snug Ride (because we didn't think it could be returned), a Baby Trend Flex Lock (turns out to be #1 Consumer Rated), & a Graco Cargo for my daughter (3).

Turns out that my mom thinks we may be able to return the snug ride. If so, we can try getting a second Baby Trend seat and try that with the Britax. I just hate to sacrifice the Britax since it is one of the safest on the market and she is not even close to the 65lb. weight limit.

So things are looking up! At least now I know that my babies will not have to live at the hospital! :p

I just want to give a second thumbs up to the Sunshine Kids Radian. It holds up well, and harnesses to 65 pounds.

If you must get rid of the Britax (probably, those are really wide), try selling it on Craigslist to offset your other carseat purchases.

FWIW, I had 3 Graco Comfort Sports in my backseat. I also had a ComfortSport & Two Sung Rides, when the girls were first born. It's a Honda CRV.

    Good luck!
