I need help with ideas to get my ds to sleep through the night. We are going to be moving them into their own room (they have been in ours)tonight because I think that will help me get some more sleep. My DS will cry for a very long time and that is usually how he gets to sleep. Now, they have been only waking up once at night, but recently have been waking a lot more often. I thought it was a growth spurt because of the amount that they would eat but they aren't eating very much anymore but waking the same amount. So, I would like some ideas and maybe a little encouragement to see me through [IMG] I think that CIO may have to be implemented but I don't want to [IMG] Thanks for the support.

I think moving your babies in their own room will help. If they can't see you when they wake-up maybe they will go back to sleep.

Also if you are feeding them solids, I would feed them to them right before they go to bed. Might help keep their bellies fuller longer.

Another thing which I need to be better at is setting up a bedtime routine for them could help them sleep better.
    HTH!

Have you tried a noise machine of some sort? I think that will help with the middle of the night wakings. We use a humidifier that serves two purposes.

I also agree with the pp with setting a regular bedtime routine. Babies seem to do better with some consistency.

FYI: We had to CIO at 5.5 months for bed and naps (doctor's suggestion).

    Good luck!

Or in my case, freak out and scream even louder! [IMG]

Maybe try a noise machine or humidifier? Mine sleep with a humidifier every night, and sleep much better with it. That way anything noisy I am doing in another room can't be heard as much over the humidifier, and they sleep better. You might have to do some sort of CIO for the first couple of nights to get them use to being somewhere else.

Good luck and hang in there!

I agree with the noise machine, my DD is on oxygen at night and I know that if DS goes to bed before her he doesnt sleep well.
We also do solids about 30 minutes before bed and then right before bed we do bedtime lotion/nighttime massage gel. Johnson's purple bottle it has lavender and chamielle in it. It helps.
Maybe try giving a bath before bed ?

    Good Luck!

Thank you all for your replies. My DH and I have decided to try and CIO tonight. It is going to be hard on me. I will also try to do something relaxing before bed like a bath or massage and look into getting some kind of noise machine. Again, I want to thank you for your help. They were sleeping so good until about two weeks ago and I know they don't need to eat at night. Wish me luck [IMG]

Good Luck with CIO! It was hard to do but so worth it in the end. The first day was so hard especially because our room is right by theirs so I could not sleep and the next night was better. THe 3rd and 4th night they cried just a little and I was able to sleep through their cry.
