I was just wondering what activity I could do for the kids at my girls bday party on the 19th of this month. We are doing a lady bug themed party and I wanted to have some sort of activity that could tie into it. Nothing too long or hard. Originally I was going to do a flower themed party since it is spring but switched to the ladybug theme because there wasn't a lot of good flower themed packages. I was going to buy little pots and some soil and some flower seeds and have all the kids plant some seeds to take home as part of their gift for coming (and they are getting goody bags). Do you think I could still do it? Do you think it would work with 2 year olds? I could possibly do it outside if the weather holds or inside in the kitchen on a big plastic table cloth. There will only be 4 kids who are 2 (including mine) and then two 1 year olds. I would appreciate any other suggestions you all have on an activity that would tie in to the ladybug theme. Any simple arts and crafts activities would be great too. Thanks so much.

What about some sort of craft with foam stickers? Lois brought some over today and the girls LOVED using them, so I bet yours would too. I bet you can hit the craft store and find maybe a door hanger or something like that and they can make it spring themed that way.

That's all I have for now, but I'll keep thinking!!

Do you have a cake yet? I made this lady bug cake last year for my 2 year olds birthday and it was very easy!

What about pin the dots on the lady bug instead of pin the tail on the donky..

ETA: Just thought of it.. What if they make a lady bug out of a plastic of paper plate.. Get black foam dots and some pipe cleaners and googly eyes.. let them go to town.. :)

The first one is really cute.. http://www.kidscraftweekly.com/ladybug_issue.html

What about cutting out circles out of red construction paper ( for lady bugs) a letting the kids stamp the dots with the dot markers? You can also use red paper plates for this craft.

in addition to the above ideas, you can make lady bug hats. take red construction paper and cut it in half lengthwise (long and skinny) so you have pieces 12x5.5 or thereabouts. Staple or glue 2 together ahead of time. kids use stickers (file folder dots, or foam stickers) or glue stick black construction paper circles on the red rectangle. Staple together according to child's head size. Add pipe cleaner antennae.

Variation on the paper plate idea is to create a rattle. Decorate one plate on the bottom side. staple decorated plate together and fill with raw rice, dry beans or jingle bells.

Print out ladybug from coloring website. Use elmer's glue to adhere puffy colored cotton balls or pompom balls for dots.
