I have a few questions - basically my DD has trained herself over the past few months, to the point where she rarely poops in her diaper and pees in her diaper only about 25% of the time. So she used the toilet a lot of the time now (and I honestly wish she would have waited a few more months to potty train, because now she is using diapers and the potty!). So she is partially potty trained, but because of this she wants to spend like 10min on the potty every time she goes - ugh! And because she goes about 8 times/day, this really cuts into whatever we are doing! So, I think she understands the concept but I am so tired of spending so much time in the bathroom with a partially trained little girl! It has been like this for about 4months now!! I either want her fully potty-trained, or not at all!! Any suggestions - should I just bite the bullet, use some big girl underwear and spend a weekend really getting her 100% trained?

So as a result of this DS has decided he now wants to potty train as well, I didn't want to discourage it, so I let him sit on the potty as well. And, now he is actually peeing every time I put him on the potty. But, I have a practical question - how do you make sure that the pee doesn't get everywhere??!! His little penis sticks up over the ledge (even the built-up ledge that was meant to keep boys pee in the potty!), so DH has been telling him to hold it down...but I have never potty trained boys before - is this what you do? just tell them to hold it down? I am kind of at a loss here...

We haven't started PT'ing yet, but I think if I were you I would put on the Big Girl Panties and go for it! Good Luck!

For your DD, I would just slap some panties on and get rid of the diapers.

For my boys, we had them get on the toilet facing backwards. Then when they grabbed the sides to hold on it naturally angled "it" down. We also taught them to push "it" down. That took a bit of practice, but now they get it.

I would definitely go for the panties. You could maybe start a timer...I used one on the microwave. Tell her that every time the timer goes off that that will be when she can go to the potty. That way, maybe you won't be going ALL the time, and she will be more likely to pee quicker. I don't know if that will work, but it's worth a shot.
