    Hi ladies

I am new here and we just found out we are having twins. We live in Towson, MD area and need recommendations for OBGYN or perinatologist. I had 2 prior m/c so we will probably be high risk.

    Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to Twinstuff. :sign0016: Congrats on your twins.

I am a fellow Marylander too. :D I went to school at Towson Univ. :) Sorry can't help you with any OB or Peri recommendations though.

I would encourage you to join our Big Sister Program. You will be matched up with another Mom with older twins and she will support you throughout your pregnancy and beyond. Click on the link in my signature for more information, it's a great program.

    Welcome
    I live near White Marsh.
I went to the maternal/fetal medicine (periniatology) group for Hopkins at Greenspring station. They are wonderful (Dr. henderson is my favorite - so laid back and calm) They only deliver at Hopkins. I have also heard good things about GMBC but don't know any specific docs.

Good luck, let me know if I can be of any help!

Welcome and congratulations! I am in White Marsh/ Towson. I go to GBMC. Wonderful hospital I picked because of the reputation of the nicu in case it was needed. With the twins having TTTS I was also sent to Sinai and University of Maryland. My ob/gyn who is the best in the world is Dr. Elberfeld at GBMC. He referred me to Dr. Arrabal at Sinai who is the best peri in the world. My twins are here healthy largely due to the unbelievably great care I received from these doctors. I can't say enough good. Dr. Arrabal is the doctor on the Discovery channel episode Twins.Twins and more Twins. He helped save Siobhan's twins from ttts. She also recommends him very highly (I'm sure she wouldn't mind me saying that) If you have any questions about phone numbers etc. pm me I'd gladly give you any info.

PS: I have a copy of Barbara Luke's book about twins and multiples pregnancies etc. You are welcome to it if you want to come get it. I am literally 10 min. from Towson. It is a wonderful reference.

The name sounds familiar but honestly I haven't heard bad of any ob/gyn doctors/peri's at GBMC. The only reason I was referred to one at Sinai as opposed to staying at GBMC was because he was a specialist familiar with ttts. I did visit GBMC's high risk quite a few times (they were the one's who suspected ttts at 13 weeks) and this pregnancy started out as another set of identicals so I was right back at the high risk department. They are on top of things I have to say that. I always had wonderful care there.

I was in Columbia and delivered at Howard County General. My obs sent me for my growth scans to UofMD where Shock Trauma is. Mommy brain...I don't remember the actual name of the unit or the doctor! I know it was Maternal Fetal Medicine...that's all I got...sorry! LOL Congrats!

I live near white marsh and I'm seeing Dr Khouzami (Perinatal Associates). I just switched to him about a month ago. I was not happy with my previous doctor at all (charles st obgyn). I'm having mono/di twins and they were not monitoring them at all for TTTS. I switched to Dr. Khouzami on my own and I absolutely think it was the best thing I could have done. He is wonderful. He did an ultrasound the very first time I saw him and confirmed it is mono/di twins. At that point he told me I will have weekly fluid checks, OB appointments every two weeks, and growth scans monthly. He meets with me after every u/s just to tell me everything is okay and to ask how I'm doing/if I have any questions. You are correct that he also delivers the babies at GBMC. I really can't say enough about how happy I have been since I switched. Send me a message if you have anymore questions about him. Oh I forgot to mention another plus, I'm always in and out of there in no time. I haven't had to wait at all!
