They're starting to love picking stuff up & *trying* to eat it. Most of the time, it ends up on the floor. [IMG] We've tried Cheerios & tiny pieces of cheese & cut up avacados. What other things are good? We have to be careful to avoid things like apples, bananas & rice since Zoe gets constipated VERY easily.

The girls love the Gerber puffs - I'm even getting addicted to them, I also give them noodles.

Whole wheat rotini pasta (broken up) sprinkled w/ parm cheese
Most fruits and (well cooked) veggies. Fruits we do mostly fresh or from can - no heavy syrups. Veggies I do mostly frozen bags for convenience. They LOVE broccoli.
Small pieces of meats (when ready)
    Cheese crumbles or small chunks

If the food is slimy or slippery here are 2 tips:
put the food on a paper towel to "dry" it a little and/or
sprinkle it with wheat germ or parmesean cheese to make it easier for them to grasp.

My girls eat just about everything now. They LOVE it.

Safari: great tip on the parm cheese/wheat germ...I'll be trying that tomorrow!

Black beans (slightly smashed to make them less slippery and easier to digest)
Green beans and baby carrots, cooked soft and cut into small pieces
    Peas
Crackers, crackers, crackers [IMG] (even if they can't bite off a piece yet, they can pick up the whole cracker and suck on it)
Gerber puffs were a huge hit in our house too
Blueberries, cut in half (blueberries aren't as allergic-risky as strawberries)
Bits of cheese (though this can be constipating too -- we've never had a problem with it, but some do)

Be patient, it takes a while for them to learn to handle new textures. If all they eat is Cheerios and puffs for a while, that's fine too!

Mine eat a lot that has been mentioned, but here are a few other favorites:

frozen peas (cooked, of course! I buy Cascadian Farm organic, they are so sweet and yummy!)
    frozen cubed carrots
    spinach (cooked)
    papaya
    mango
baked sweet potato cut into cubes
    baked squash cut into cubes
