A friend of mine is at 29 weeks with twins and was just put on bedrest. I want to send her a care package since I'm too far away to visit. I can think of the easy things like magazines, books, DVDs, maybe even some MadLibs, but I'm hoping some of you have suggestions for some fun and creative things to include. I was never on bedrest, and can't even imagine how boring it must be . . .

    Any suggestions?

    -Rachel

    *Some snacks would be great
    Examples:
    Some Ensure
    protien bars
    chocolate
    cookies

*Books are a great idea maybe soem about twins or babies in general
*Maybe an easy cross stitch if she is crafty
*A small scrapbook with scrapbooking stuff so she can make a u/s scrapbook(we have a really great one of the twins)

Maybe some lotion & movies. I was never on bedrest so I have no clue, but just some things to pamper her would probably be good.

Snacks, magazines, notecards, and gift cards to restaurants her DH can pick up takeout from.

    You're a good friend!
I was on bedrest for 17 weeks I enjoyed anything with fragrance. I used lotions and perfume. Also, off the track dvd's or books- like things I wouldn't have thought of watching or reading. Anything that would brighten up the room (like an inspiring or happy picture)
Just calling her and keeping in touch is so valuable though. You'd be amazed how people vanish when someone is on bedrest.

We have quite a few of our Expecting members currently on bedrest. I am going to shortcut your thread into the Expecting forum. What a sweet thing to do for your friend! Does she have a laptop? You should encourage her to come hang out with us!

My sister has sent me a few packages and the things that I look forward to and enjoy the most are the Baby Blues comic books.

BTW, I think it's great you're thinking of her like this; it's a difficult time and small gestures like that can really make you feel so much better!

That's so kind of you. I'm only on modified bed rest but I have really enjoyed getting gifts from a few friends. You might want to throw in a small thing for the babies. I got a small pink and blue hat in one package, the little wrist rattles in one. It helps remind me that it will all be well worth it!!!

a basket from www.zingermans.com is SUPER Fun. or a Lou Malnati's pizza via mail. It would be nice ot have a fun meal in bed with hubby...

some uplifting music or an old school mix tape for her

crossword puzzles or card games you can play alone...

a foot care kit/nail polish for her husband to do for her. she can do her nails too

a child's easter basket filled with lots of fun junky things.

I love the idea of gift cards to restaurants! Perhaps also a gift card to Blockbuster or another video store? I've been on bedrest for 10+ weeks & my favorite things to receive have been chocolate, flowers & baby things. I've been given some gossip magazines but I've just been wanting to read baby stuff, so maybe some baby/twin books or a gift card to a book store if you think she may already have some books. I never used the lotion or puzzles I received but I'm extra picky and practical. ;-) I still really appreciated the thought though & felt really pampered receiving them.

I would get her some of those cottonelle moist wipes. I did not have shower privelges for a few days and those were a lifesaver. Maybe some a few scrapbooking pages with some special twin stickers. I knitted while on bedrest and read celebrity gossip magazines [IMG]

I was going to ask this also. You could send her a computer game. I enjoyed the Sims pre children. It doesn't take long to learn, but it takes a lot time to build up a family. When I use to play, I would look at the clock and two hours had already passed.

When I was on bedrest, I played on the laptop, read books and watched TV. Maybe you could send her a movie. The daytimes were the worst time for TV...there's nothing on and you're alone.

You know what would pass a LOT of time? Watching the entire 10 seasons of Friends on DVD (or whatever TV show you think she'd like). It would be expensive to buy the whole set, but maybe a Netflix subscription so she can rent it?

When I was on bedrest I watched alot of movies and colored (believe it or not). I enjoyed reading when I was at home on bedrest but in the hospital I was on magnesium which gave me blurred vision and headaches. Maybe some self spa things? Fingernail polish, remover, eye mask, etc. Food wise, do gift cards to places that deliver and some fun snacks that she may not usually eat...Wish her my best[IMG] I did it for 6 weeks. @.5 at home the other in the hospital.
