One of my boys has diarrhea really bad. He is going through his diaper, clothes and whatever he is sitting on. He has been sick for a week now with croup, ear infection, stomach flu and wheezing. They did put him on amoxicillin however, he was getting a rash all over his face so we stopped it. When we went back to the doc last week his ear infection was going that is when we found the wheezing. He is slowing eatting a little more with keeping it down.

Does anyone have suggestions about the diarrhea and how to help him get better? Happy Monday:)

    Thanks Ladies

I would put him on Pedialyte until the diarrhea is gone. Poor baby. :hug99:

I don't know what could be causing all those things, but antibiotics can actually cause diarrhea. If he is on them now for his ear infection, the diarrhea should get better when it's finished, and if there's an underlying cause (stomach flu or something), that should be improving by then too. In the meantime, I'd probably give him less formula and more pedialyte -- but if you're breastfeeding, don't stop that.

Your poor guy -- I hope he's feeling better soon!

The Amoxicillan made my guys have the runs. As soon as they were done with it, the runs went away.

    Hang in there, :hug99:

Antibiotics give my girls the runs also. I wonder if you could call your pedi and see if they would let you put some rice cereal in a bottle for him to try and bind him up.

One of my twins JAck has been on antibiotics so much this winter and always having diarrhea with it. My pediatrician recommended Floratar. It is made for antibiotic induced diarrhea. It is an over the counter medicine. I got it at Walgreens. Ask the Pharmacist they know where it is. I just put it in his bottle at morning and night or you can mix it in with their solids. Good luck and I hope this helps.
