Need help with Star Wars stuff

Timothy wants to learn/read/watch Star Wars stuff. From what I've observed and been told, it seems that that is quite the popular thing. Most of the boys spend recess pretending to be droids and playing Star Wars and Timothy wants to understand.

What are the best starter books for Star Wars stuff? Timothy isn't reading by himself yet, but wants me to read aloud things like "The Magic Treehouse" books.

Are there any younger movies or cartoons I should look for? We use Netflix, so I can get pretty much anything. I've let them watch a few clips from the regular movies so they know who some of the characters are, but I'm still thinking most of the regular movies are to old for the kids.

    Thanks,

    Marissa

I don't have children your age yet (unless you want to count my DH, who is a huge Star Wars fan and my godson, age 7, a Star Wars fan) but Cartoon Network does have the Clone Wars cartoon and I think the first season is on DVD.
Here is listing from Amazon of Star Wars books for kids:

My godson has seen all of the movies. It amazes me how Star Wars is still so popular after all these years.

My boys are all Star Wars freaks. DH is a big fan, so it's kind of in the genes. :)

DH watched the first movie (Episode IV) with each of them around the age of your kids, and they did fine with it. We later watched all the movies together, editing out only the scene where Annikin is horrifically wounded before becoming Darth Vader. Now, at ages 7 and 11, they are Star Wars trivia geniuses! We have Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, and it boggles my mind how much minute detail they know!

Star Wars books come in all styles and reading levels. One trip to a major bookstore's children's section and I bet the kids will find all sorts of things they want. There are also Star Wars encyclopedia-type books, with lots of photos, that name and describe the characters and vehicles.

You can find Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie on Netflix. They also have quite a few of the Stage 1,2,3 level reader books that the kids like. My son loves Star Wars and even my daughter has read the books.

My boys love the Star Wars:the Clone Wars series on Carton Network. I think there is also a series of books, with those characters. Those would have appropriate content for younglings. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
I think the original movies are something they need to be more mature to appreciate. They spent time watching Episode 1 (first one of the new series, kinda the fourth movie to everyone who'd seen the first set of 3)and they loved parts, but were very restless during other parts.

Thanks. I found the cartoons on Netflix and added it to the list. We just have to make sure to alternate with Barbie.

I am going to the library sometime this week and I'll check for Star Wars.

Thanks. Timothy seems excited. I'm excited that my child who hasn't been really into a lot of books might find another series that he loves. I started reading the Magic Treehouse books aloud in the car and there was silence in the backseat. If we can get into the Star Wars books like that I will be very happy.

THere are a couple books in the early/stages reading books. We have two, they tell essentilly the story of a scene from the movie, I think. We also have one of the tag reader books that is star wars. My two have yet to watch the movie. THey have seen the cartoon a couple of times.
