Need help with potty training

Hi everyone.

Samantha and Emily just turned 2 on Dec 31. We went back to Chicago for the holidays and my sister is kind of potty training her 23 month old because that is what day care is doing. My girls thought it was cool to sit on the big potty.

So here we go I guess. I am not complaining, I just need some help! We have been home for a week and both girls have pooped on the potty (not in the diaper). Samantha is more ready than Emily. Samantha has even told me she has to pee and we go the potty.

I've heard to take a week and let them run around with no diaper or with big girl underwear. When they start to go rush them to the toliet.

We are doing hugs and kisses and a lot of praising for going so I think Emily will catch on pretty quick. She loves to clap her hands and say Yah when Samantha goes. Samantha tries so hard to please us.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I personally am not to keen on starting things that I know I am going to want to stop...........................for example there is going to come a time when I don't want them running around with nothing on below their waist so I did not want to even suggest that as an option. When they were ready we switched from diapers to underwear and they used the toilet because they is what is generally accepted as they get older and I wouldn't have any transitions after the transition from diaper to underwear...........hope I am making sense.

 

my daughter wore her brothers big boy undies.. and sat on the potty.. peed through them..

i just got the camera and heldoff pt..

now shes 2.4 and seems to know when she has to use the potty...

i say dont do the running around naked thing..
i let them do it before bath time.. just set the timer.

every half hour..

then every 45 min..
then every hour.

then 5x a day before/after breakfast
lunch nap wakeup dinner/bed

give it some time.. you have to be ready as well as they have to be ready.

 

I would not do the naked thing. I would do the underwear (makes less of a mess) just be prepared for extra laundry.
I found that a timer did not work with my daughter. If she did not have to go, she would run and cry and fight me. If she kind of was getting the urge and I asked her, she would go and pee on the potty.
Just be consistent.
