    Gosh, I feel so dumb!

So I have been working on potty training my b/g twins and they are doing really well so this morning I decided to take them out in their underwear; they did great! Mommy was the silly one! I cant figure out how my boy needs to be positioned so he wont pee everywhere! HAHAHA! I felt so bad, I had him pee everywhere, he did not like that! At home, I have him sit on the seat and he can sit low enough that it aims inside the toilet but in a public restroom, there is no front to the seat and his pants/undies are bunched up with his winter boots so he cant sit low enough and it went everywhere except inside the toilet :(

He is not tall enough to stand in front of it and if I hold him up in the air, he is not talented enough yet to hold "it" and aim it right.

HELLP! I f feel completely incompetent! How do you do it????

I know it can be very messy. I always bring extra bottoms now because that has happened to us. I usually will quickly wipy the seat, if possible, then cover the seat with toilet paper where he would sit because there are very rarely those covers in the public bathrooms and I kind of put my arm around their back and under their shoulder to hold them up and with the other hand point their penis downward into the toilet....hope that makes sense. Mine do not stand yet either, not coordinated enough and that is the only way so far that I have prevented the pee from going everywhere but in the potty. HTHs!

Oh and I tell them they have to keep their hands on their laps or on mommy because at home they will hold onto the sides of the potty..

This is basically what I did with Luke. I'd have him sit and then either I'd point his penis down or I'd tell him to do it.

Oh the joys of boys! :p

A friend of mine said she takes a potty chair with her in her van, and makes them sit in it and go before they even go in a store...I guess she dumps the contents in the parking lot, ewww...but might be something that would help. IDK. :)

I used to have to point & hold it down for them.

I took a portable potty everywhere. I'd take it into the public restroom instead of having them sit on the toilet. They eventually grew tall enough so they could do it standing up at the toilet.

This is what I would do, too. Lift him onto the toilet (after wiping it and putting toilet paper on it) and then I would point it down and hold it for him. :) Now, at 4, he stands! Makes it MUCH easier once they start standing!

I face my backwards which helps at home and in public. I also would take one shoe off and that way he could open wide enough to sit on the big potty. Just 2 months ago we started standing to pee when not at home. I have him stand on my shoes and that make him tall enough. It means awhole lot undressing when peeing away from home.

We don't have an issue with boots/heavy clothes here, but....

I also do that with Jake(2.5). Much easier than sitting!

  10. One of our boys prefers to sit backwards on the toilet, and the other prefers to sit on the potty chair and hold himself aiming down. He doesn't like the potty chair on the floor, so we have to take it apart and set the top part of it on the toilet (with the toilet seat up). Daddy has tried to show them how to stand to pee, but they will have absolutely nothing to do with that! Which is okay by me for now! I have enough standers to wipe up after!! :winking: I have thought about taking the potty chair out in public with us, but could never for the life of me figure out what I was going to do with the *products* after they used it! So, we just put a pull~up on them and toilet them frequently while we are out and about! I hold their hands (or aim them down) so they don't have to touch the public toilet seat!

Thank you all for your replies. I now carry a potty chair with me at all times, but I plan on using it only for emergencies when we are on the road.

We have not had any other "pee everywhere" episode, LOL. I guess mommy needed practice, haha! Hubby and I taught him how to push it down ( he will not let me hold it pointing down) and so far it has worked. At home, no problem cause we dont have the boots in the way (as far as being able to spread legs open enough to lean down "into" the toilet).

But HEY! I think my twins are potty trained!!! I am so excited! I dreaded this for so long and in the end, it is relatively easy! My twins are amazing; walked on the exact same day and now potty trained exactly at the same time! I love it!

Oh, and I am very interested in the "put him on your shoes" technique... my guy is a little peanut but I may have to ask hubby to teach him that....

    To be followed ;-)
