hi - can someone help me to convince my dh it's only fair to use my dad's first name for the middle name since our son will have dh's last name?

We have no boys on my side in my family, so this would be the last chance to honor my father. I'm a daddy's girl and would love to do this for him.

My dh would like to use his own name for our son's middle name b/c that is in his family tradition. I'm not sure it's much of a tradition though b/c they didn't do it with his older brother.

Any good lines I say to my dh to convince him, this is only fair??

    Thank you.

Have you thought of using your dads name for your sons first name?

He doesn't want to do my dad's first name. Yeah, I don't think it's fair. Can't have it both ways.

What are their names? Do you have a first name picked out?

i think its fair, he should be able to be named after both sides of the family.. i think its a great idea. and fair also. no advice, but i agree with you.

The Greek tradition is to name the first son with the grandfather (dads side) as the first name and then the middle name is the dads middle name.

My dh is Irish and we were lucky to have 2 boys so it worked out. One son has fil first name and dhs middle name. Other son has my dads name reversed (first and middle).

If we did not have 2 boys, I dont know what we would have done. I think dhs dads name as the first name and then my dads name as the middle name.

What about having two middle names?

I reckon go with 2 middle names too.
With my daughter, we mixed up my parents names. Lynn + Fay = Finlay. Doesn't work with many name combos but I am so glad it worked for us!
