    Happy Holidays Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving :)
I was hoping that someone could lend some advise on how I can get my DS Logan to overcome his fear of oak leaves!
He is sooo scared of them and today outside when some were blowing in the wind on the ground towards him he started screaming in pure terror! I felt so sorry for him and tried to explain that they weren't going to hurt him.. I even stomped on one and then squashed it into a million pieces to show him there was nothing to be afraid of but, it still didn't help! Also, DD Lacy was walking around picking them up and bringing them over to him and he was just screaming in fear. So I had to bring them inside and calm him down.
Has anyone had a problem like this before? Any suggestions on what I can do?

    Thanks,
    Nadana

I guess he will have to grow out of it. Its natural to fear the world around you esp when you are so small. I fell bad for the little guy, but I am sure its only temporary

hmmm, Ellie got a little freaked by the leaves this fall when a bunch swirled into the stroller while we were on a walk. But I picked one up to show her and Searra immediately wanted to hold it so once Searra had one, Ellie had to have one too

Can you try bringing just one leaf into the house (controlled familiar environment) and making a big exciting happy deal out of it? But from a few feet away, not going any closer until *he* tries to come closer. "Ohhh Logan! Look at the leaf! Isn't it neat? Look the colors! What colors are there ?{list color/s}? Oh, it tickles Mommy's hand...oh that feels funny! {tickling your hand}" Etc, etc. And since your daughter is okay with leaves, maybe enlist her with the 'play' and since there's only one, you don't have to worry about her bringing them over to the poor boy and trying to 'help' And maybe seeing how much 'fun' they are will help.

    GL!

Both my little guys had this problem!!!!!! They have grown out of it at least to the point they don't scream or anything- but they still don't care for them!
They have done an art project at preschool with fake ones and were fine. The real ones blowing around outside just do not thrill them! If one blows into the garage they still want me to get it out! So, I guess I am saying.... you don't have the only child with this "issue" and it does get better but I don't have a solution in the interim- except trying what pp said.
    Best wishes!

    Thanks for the replies!
I tried it again today and no luck! He was pure shaking in fear everytime the wind even blew alittle and they began to move across the yard. Now when I even say the word leaf or leaves he starts puckering up to cry.
I will have to try bringing one inside that is a great idea (hopefully) that will help some.
I just feel bad because we live in the country where there is alot of woods.

We don't have fear of leaves, but we have fear of the vaccum. They literally shake when the vaccum is running. They have the most fearful face and it breaks my heart. I want to try to get them used to it, but feel mean making them be near it when they are shaking and howling! I've tried having them go up to it when it is not on and they are fine with that - but the minute it turns on it turns into the scariest thing ever!

DS is also afraid of any singing, dancing toy. He does not like any animatronic type thing. We went to a fair where they had a display with singing and dancing barnyard animals set to music and he freaked! No dancing Elmos for us right now. The funny thing is that DD loves them and laughs at the same time he is hysterical.

Sigh....let's hope these random fears go away soon.
