Okay my DH took the girls to their 15 month check-up yesterday while I was at work. They are both currently on Amoxicillan for ear infections and have been on the Amoxicillan for 6 days. One of my daughters' ears still looked a little inflammed, so they opted to not give her any immunizations this time. The other daughter's ears looked good, so they gave her 1/2 of the flu vaccine and the DTP/Hib combo vaccine. They my DH took them to day care.

When he picked them up, my daughter had red spots on her back and stomach & around the injection site and a few on the lower part of her face. When DH called the pedi's office they said to watch her. This morning when we got them up they have gotten MUCH worse!!! They are ALL OVER her body and face and especially around the injection site. The pedi's office is currently not open right now.

Does anyone have any experience with this???? I am so very worried for my daughter. I had also read a post last night of a mother who's child had this same reaction and was diagnosed with autism soon after.

Please give me any info or advice you have. Thanks.

I would call your peds office anyway. When they are not there, there is usually an answering service who contacts either your ped or the one on call. They will give the ped your phone number and they will call you back. Don't worry if you don't feel like it's an "emergency." You are obviously freaking out about it and extremely worried so don't hesitate to use the answering service whenever you need to. That's why these Doctors get paid the big bucks. They are suppose to be there for you and your children whenever you need them.

Definitely call the pedi. The girls had 15 month shots yesterday as well, but different ones. We were told with the MMR vaccine to watch for a rash that it could happen but that it was normal.

I would definately call the ped. If you cant get in touch with them, I would take her to the ER or a med clinic. A severe allergic reaction to vaccines can be very dangerous and the sooner you act, the better off your child will be.

Just thinking about you and your dd and hoping that she is doing ok. Did you call or see the ped? What did they say? Hope everything is alright.

Call the Pedi, but don't worry about autism. The only controversy (that most people think is unfounded) is around the MMR. She didn't get that one anyway.

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your considerate posts and advice. We took her to the pedi this morning, and she has a rash from the amoxicillan. He said it usually presents itself around day 7-9. She is on day 8 of amoxicillan. He said that it would have happened regardless of the DTP vaccine. Her ears are all better, so he said to stop the amoxicillan. He put her on a low dose of prednisone. She looked much better 5 hours after her first dose of prednisone. He also said that we would not be using amoxicillan anymore. I feel much better!!! It is so funny, b/c I am a nurse and I have that "realistic" side of me.....but I also have the "mommy" side of me that gets extremely worried about things with my girls!!! Thanks everyone!!
