Hello twin mommies and daddies too!
I have 21 month old twins and I am currently in college getting my BA in human development to become a special education teacher once my girls are in grade school.
Anyways I have to write a paper and I decided to write about raising twins and I have to come up with 2 key concepts.
I got 2 really good ones but I wanted to see if any of you had better ones or some input or advice
here are my two key concepts
    1. providing individualism
    2. keep a schedule (my twins were breastfed 13 1/2 months, one in NICU over a month and a half and she has to take 3 meds everydays numberous times so keep them on a schedule for me was important...)
    3. ???????????????????????
    so anyways i need a 3rd....any ideas????
thanks so much for your help :) have a good day!

How about all the special challenges a family with twins faces...getting out with them...how much the family dynamic changes...feeding two at once...comforting two at once--you know, our daily lives!

How about the way "outsiders" view twins (kind of like twin "myths", or commom misunderstandings that the public has about twins). For example, boy/girl twins can't ever be identical, twins are not categorized as "maternal" or paternal", the word "identical" refers to DNA and not necessarilly apperance, same gender twins dosen't make twins identical, faternal twins are still twins even if they look like they come from different planets!, there's not a "dumb one" and a "smart one" ...you know, all the stupid twin comments we've all heard!

    Good luck with you paper!

Hi, if I can give a little advice, I would change the idea of individualism to independence. I guess it is one of my pet peeves when people ask how I am going to teach them to be individuals. They already are. They were born two separate people. They don't need to learn how to be individuals, but they do need to learn to how to be independent from one another. I know my boys struggle with this, since they are the very best of friends. However, they certainly already show very different personalities, needs, etc.. which shows that they certainly already are individuals.

Oh, one idea, especially since you are going into the area of education, is the constant controversy over twin placement in school. That is such a difficult situation for all parties, and can take an emotional toll on twin parents as they grapple with the right decision for their twins.
