    Hi,

I have a scheduled c-section next week and we still don't have our names!! Help :) We go back and forth, but are currently thinking of:

    Sydney Avigail and
    Leighton Ariel

We have DS named Seth Jacob.

Please be honest-- what do you think? Part of me thinks Leighton is such a grown up name for a little baby and it really doesn't have a good nickname (we don't care for Leigh). And I am a little worried about using 2 unisex or originally boy names.

Also, DH would kind of like the names to start with the same letter, so we could use the middle names as the first names

    Avigail (Avi) and Ariel (Ari).

Or any combination thereof???? As you can see I am very confused :p All help and opinions much appreciated!!!!!

When they are infants, some people are going to ask you which one is the boy, even if they are both in pink ruffles and have names like Gabriela and Bianca. Unisex names may agrivate that, but it's going to happen sometimes no matter what.
I'm fine with same letter names, I like that better than rhyming names myself.
I'm a big fan of the name Abigail, so I don't really like the way you've modified it, but that's because I think it is perfect the way it is!

We didn't have the names finalized until after they were born. I felt like I had to look at their faces before giving them a name. So don't panic, you still have time.

    Love Sydney.
The only Leighton's I've known have been boys. Is it pronounced Layton or Leeton?
I think Avigail and Ariel are a bit too much together, but that is just mho.
    What about
    Sydney Ariel
    Avigail Leighton.

Or what about another place name for the other twin? Sydney and Adelaide would be great!

They would forever be asked whether they were named for cities in Australia.

This is my own personal pet peeve, so take it with a grain of salt.
I really, really, really dislike gender neutral names. I work in a large organization and often communicate with people over email (and never meet them). We also have lots of non-Americans working with us. If only I had a nickle every time a co-worker from outside the US asked me whether Sydney X or Ainsley Y was a man or woman. And then I feel stupid responding that I don't know. Even hardcore male names like Ryan and Allen have become gender neutral.

So I vote for names with a clear gender attached to them. Not that my vote counts. ;)

I was being cheeky.....see my Siggy?
I actually live 2 hours from Adelaide. We confuse people all the time. Still, it was a name we loved!

At first we really wanted aliterative names and has several name pairs picked out:
    Sarah
    Savannah

    Evelyn
    Eleanor

    Audrey
    Annalise

But DH and I were never both happy about both names, so we ended up both picking our favorite: I picked Audrey, dh picked Eleanor. I almost vetoed Eleanor b/c I thought it sounded like an old woman name, but we compromised by deciding to call her Ella Joy (Joy is her middle name). I was dissappointed not to have aliterative names for a bit, but now I'm really happy with it bc I plan to embroider E's and A's onto their outfits when I get around to it. Also, we got their ears pierced and have some little e and a studs to put in their ears after they heal.

Your names all sound good. GL and let us know what you decide.

Avi and Ari are too rhymy and sing song for my taste. Like Sydney Although not keen on Leighton cuz as pp said I have only heard it used as a males name. How about switching it and using Ariel Leighton and Sydney Aviegail.

I used puffy paint, a lot quicker, and it still looks nice! And it was a big help when they started daycare.
