Is unbearable. I mean TRULY. I've been in tears at least once per day for 7 days now.

Just so happens my DH is in Italy for 3 weeks AND I'm suffering (and they are too) with 2 yr molars! YOU GUYS!

They have not napped AT ALL IN SEVEN DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are 19 months old. They used to do 3 hrs per day. Now they do ZERO even tho I do make them cry in their crib for up to 2 hours.. (Today it was an hour and 20 and they were NOT giving up. sTill standing in the cribs.)

Oh and BONUS--- they're getting up and hour earlier, so five am! It's BAD!

They are just weird. I've never known them to be like this. It's tough. They're very irritable and visibly suffering.

Did anyone else have sleep problems?? Did anyone's kids boycott naps entirely during this time?

    HELP ME PLEASE I'M DROWNING.

First, hugs to you. This would be a hard stretch in any event, but with molars and not napping --yikes! My daughter tried a nap boycott around 20 months that lasted about 10 days -- it was miserable for everyone. But, I stood my ground and eventually she started napping again. I don't recall that it was during molars, however.

For molar issues, we alternated Tylenol and Motrin to ease the pain. I would work things out so that I could dose them about 30 minutes prior to naptime and betime, so that they had pain relief at sleepy time.

Hang in there -- I know this is a rough patch for you.

Are you sure it's molars, or that it's only molars and not something else going on, like an earache? If they're so unrelentingly miserable, I might take them to the pedi just to make sure nothing else is up.

What are you doing for meds? When we have bad teething, we give ibuprofen 3x during the day (first thing in the morning, 6 hrs later, then 6 hrs later (bedtime)). And when it's really bad, we fill in with Tylenol in the meantime.

Good luck, it is no fun!

When I could tell they were in pain, I drugged them before naps and bed... usually Tylenol but Motrin when it was really bad (they don't like the taste of the Motrin so they won't take it unless they're miserable). My guys are funny about pain, though. They seem fine while running around all day but as soon as they try to sleep, they're tossing and whining.

Yep-I'd have em checked for something else too. If it is just the teeth, I did get permission from my pedi to give Owen 1/2 tsp of Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) a half hour before bed, just to get through the really desperate bits. Good luck. I feel for you!

Are you sure it's molars? We're still been there, doing that with 2-year molars, but it comes and goes.

I might take them to the doc to see if there's something else going on. I know mine have had phases where they just.will.not.sleep.already. If they're even the tiniest bit congested (and of course they are, from all the crying, LOL), I'm not above giving them Benadryl before bed to help them get over the hump. Maybe try that?

Otherwise, Motrin is all I can suggest. And a good stiff drink for you!

    Thanks gals!

Yes. I'm positve it's molars cuz I can see them and where the 2 are not through yet it's bubbled and bruised. I just took them to the doc so it's nothing else. I think it's a combo of the teeth, independence AND Daddy being gone for 3 weeks.

I alternated Tylenol and Motrin too.

Thanks guys!!!! I had no idea how hard teething would be! We got our first four teeth at 4 months and it has yet to let up!

    :)

Is the Tylenol and Motrin helping at all? I would definitely keep right on top of that to help ease the pain. Hopefully they will break through soon. 2y. molars are certainly rough!
