I need some advise about where the babies will sleep when they get here.
The situation is we have a small 2 br cape. Our DD is 5 and in the smaller room, which is pretty much stuffed. Our room is pretty tight as well. We plan to either move or add on an addition in the spring, which tbd as we will have to see what the budget allows. So when the babies are about 4 mo old we will eithe rbe showing the house to sell...or renovating and having to stay at my mothers or something.

Mom and DH insist that we should get 2 standard cribs, move our bed infront of the window and put the cribs on the wall. It would fit..but be tight, and I am concerned about how that will look if we had to show the house to potential buyers. I was thinking we could get 2 pack and plays or even these http://www.gracobaby.com/catalog/product.a...mp;CategoryID=3 which are like a mini pack and play (basinett takes 15 lb then the base up to 30) so if we had to show the house they could be packed up and the room look ok, plus easy if we had to move to my moms or something for a while. DH and mom think they are not ok for sleeping in more than naps. I had also seen these online http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?p...rentPage=search but cant seem to find 'mini cribs' in any store to see the quality (it converts to a twin bed so smaller than traditional ones) I am just concerned about space and how we wre even going to move around this house, which is bursting at the seams already, untill we can get a bigger place. Any suggestions? I want to make sure the babies are safe when sleeping, but I also need to have the house function since it could be up to 8 mo or so before they have a room of their own. I am so confused at this point I dont know WHAT to do!

Our boys were born last August. I needed to look for a new job almost immediately after I returned to work last October so that we could be moved by this summer. I found a job right away and needed to start the beginning of February. We spent the entire fall prepping the house expecting to list the house by April at the latest - it went on the market mid-February. DH had to stay in the old house with all three kids while I lived 3 hours away in another state during the week for the new job. We got an offer on the old house in April and closed by early June. In the meantime, we closed on our new house in late March and moved into it in mid April. So moving with infant twins is possible - just expect craziness. :)

Our boys slept in a single co-sleeper in our bedroom until they were about 4 months old. Once they were too big to comfortably share the co-sleeper, we moved them into their full size cribs in their nursery. However, there is absolutely no reason why you couldn't have the babies sleep in separate co-sleepers/pack n plays until you get settled with the rooming situation. It sounds to me like you have really given some thought to the logistics of all of this and you should stand firm with your DH and mother. Good luck!

I'm in a similar situation. We only have 2 bedrooms but our bedroom is big enough for them to each be in their own crib. But that will only last so long so we're looking into renovation options- possibly moving our bedroom into the basement- we can't add on unfortunately due to zoning laws, so it's up in the air.. Good luck, it will all work out eventually. Are you in NH? I'm assuming that's what CarolynNH means (Sorry, I can't tell by the flag) I"m in NH, too... If you're in NH, what part are you in? I'm on the seacoast...

I am in NH..I am in Danville..which is down rt 111from Exeter, and also off 101 near Epping...so not too far from you :)

I am having so much anxiety over the house and where to put the kids...the house is already too small for just the 3 of us...if Abbey was not 5 and starting school Id find a way to put the babies with her after a while, but she cant be woken up in the middle of the night as she needs sleep for school, and also she needs space for all her big girl toys!

We are currently living in my grandparents house. Upstairs in 2 BR that are quite small. I did fit 2 standard cribs, changing table/dresser, and a chair in the nursery which is connected through our BR. Even though, the 2 rooms are so close i still want the boys sleeping by my bedside for the first few weeks to make things easier. So we ended up getting 1 pack n play to put near our bedside. I feel much more comfortable with this arrangement for the first few weeks, even though aour room is connected to the nursery & their cribs are less than 12 feet away. So maybe the play n pack thing will work for you. I like the idea that they can be stored when showing your for sale house. But at 4 mos will they weigh within guidelines for the weight limit. be sure to include this in your search. Good luck to you!

I'm in Lee, not exactly the seacoast, but easier to say than southeastern, middle NH, so we are pretty close....Are you delivering in Exeter by any chance?

I personally would to the pack'n'plays if you think your house will be on the market. The less furniture you have in your house, the larger it appears to prospective buyers. They don't want to walk in and think they will be cramped. My son slept in a pack'n'play many nights and never minded.

Just saw your post, I'm in NH too :wavey: Loudon, though...

Just thought I'd say hi and try not to stress too much (easier said than done, I know!), my girls slept in our room in a single pack n play until they were 4 months old! And then shared a crib (in their room, but it would have fit in our room too) until they were 6 months old. It actually worked out really nicely that way...I thought. They were getting up pretty frequently at night at first and having them right there was so convenient. I'd keep working on your DH and mom. Many babies sleep in their pack n plays all the time at first...heck, at nap time...they slept in their swings!

    GL!

Hey you are just up rt 125 from me! I am quite familiar with the Lee traffic circle LOL I will be delivering at Parkland Medical Center..which is in Derry or if we need a NICU I want the Elliot in Manchester. DD was 6 weeks preemie and spent 2 weeks in the NICU in Nashua...I am terrified of going into labor real early with these 2 so am already on Dr. orders to stay off my feet as much as I can...perhaps when our little ones arrive and things return to some semblance of normal we can meet up and have a little ones play date :) DD is older than your daughter but she loves to play!

Hi! I am still thinking the pack and plays the best idea...they even have small ones that will hold up to 30lb each (not the basinett part) and we can easily fit that without having to rearrange furniture and block windows! Now to just get the DH on board LOL My biggest concern is if a pack and play is safe for longer term use...and ok for their little backs and stuff...
I am trying to get all things planned so I wont stress as things progress...DD was a preemie so I am scared about a too early arrival!

I love the Loudon/lakes area...so peaceful..well cept for NASCAR week LOL

Parkland is a great place! My older sister delivered her youngest son there! I hope you don't deliver early and those babies hold on until it's time! It would be great to get together when our babies are here! My daughter loves to play, too, so it would be fun for all! Email me anytime [email protected]..... Have you checked out the seacoast area moms of multiples group? One of the moms at my daughter's daycare has twins and has given me their card (I haven't done anything with it yet, but plan to).... They have a big yard sale every spring and fall with lots of twin related items. They have one coming up on Sept 29th at the Little Harbour School in Portsmouth- you might be able to get some good second hand stuff- I will definitely be checking it out! Take care and stay rested!!

About pack and plays for long term use--I know my brother and sister-in-law have used them to sleep their twins at least until their twins were 18 months, maybe longer. I know that some of the pack and plays don't advise using them after the kids can stand up, but it seems to have worked okay for them.

Their twins seem really happy with the situation, and they like having the pack and plays side by side so they can hear each other. They were in kind of a tight situation, though, having to fit three kids in a single room for awhile (their oldest is 15 months older than the twins), and not really having the money to buy three cribs at the time.

They should be fine sleeping in a pnp until you get moved or more space. That said, I had another thought that I didn't see mentioned. What about setting up one full size crib in your room to start. They should be okay, spacewise, to share until you know what's going to happen. If you are going to sell, you can switch to pnps and dismantle the crib. If you are adding on, you can set up a second crib to accomodate them both until their room is ready. Whether you add on or move, you will eventually need two cribs anyway. We had a three bedroom house when our twins were born. The twins stayed in two cribs in our bedroom with us until we moved just after their first bday. It was tight, but totally doable. GL!
