Hi guys...I feel like such a wuss right now. I don't know how so many of you carry your twins to 38-39 weeks, honestly you're all my heroes. And I hate to complain, because so far the babies are really healthy and growing well (measuring a couple weeks ahead all along) and that's what matters, and I want to keep them in as long as possible. Also I hate complaining because we went through the whole array of fertility treatments to finally even get pregnant (second IVF took), so I feel so horrible feeling anything less than ecstatic. Like I get how fortunate we are.

However...I don't know how I'm going to keep doing this. I've been getting more and more uncomfortable in the normal "I am 33 weeks pregnant with twins" way, lots of pressure, huge and heavy, etc. I expected that. But in the last few days I've had other symptoms pop up and I feel like I'm going to go crazy. My skin is incredibly itchy, mainly my legs and feet, and I feel like it's going to send me right to the loony bin. And this week my swelling went from normal to giant balloon...so of course I'm worried about preeclampsia (I have an OB appt tomorrow so I will be bringing all this up then of course). And I have a hemhorroid (yuck) that is getting uncomfortable too. Then on top of that this week my heartburn/reflux has gotten exponentially worse- last night I actually woke myself up not once but twice by throwing up in my mouth while i was sleeping!! (Sorry for the tmi, and yes it was as gross as it sounds.) So tonight I want to sleep more upright to help reduce that, but that's not very comfortable for me, thus I am still awake at 1:25 pondering how to go to sleep. Ugh!

Sorry to be a whiner...just need some encouragement. I am so grateful to have had no signs of PTL so far, but right now it feels like I'm not going to be able to make it. :gah:

Hey Mama, don't feel bad because you are so not alone. I feel your pain -- especially the reflux issue. My babies having been compressing on my stomach and sending my food back up as well and it is indeed an AWFUL feeling. Just keep thinking that the end is in sight. I felt really miserable all week but all of that turned around yesterday after a great appointment where I found out just how well the babies are doing. Its amazing how good you feel when you find out that despite all your discomforts, your little ones are thriving. So good luck at your next appt.

 I know this isn't easy. I am 34 weeks and I am huge, huge, measuring 44 weeks last Monday. Some days are better than others but knowing that babies are doing well and that I am not the only one going through this helps too. Hang in there, vent and complain all you need to, you have every right too. My OB told me that last week, she said you are not much of a complainer are you, my response was its not going to help with anything is it?. Her response "Girl, you have every right to complain thats what I am here for" I love my OB. Anyway, vent away. Sending you tons of hugs

YOU ARE NOT A WHINER!!!! I had most of the stuff you're dealing with now, was miserable, let EVERYONE know about it but am feeling much better.

    1. Did you itchyness start in your belly? If so, you could have PUPPPS. I googled pics of it and found that my mondo-stretch marks weren't just itchy stretch marks. Then the itch spread to my legs and arms and I was a... witch to live with until it calmed down. :grr: So, if it is PUPPPS, let me know and I'll tell you all the things I did, most of which I got from here http://www.naomikritzer.com/motherhood/PUPPP.shtml .

2.) I didn't start to really swell until about this time. It's really bad right now- I can't fit into Crocs anymore. I'm a flip-flop gal full time now. Oh, but if I'm really swollen, the flip flop doesn't go between my toes and I fling my shoes off while walking. & can't see underneath me, of course, so I back up a step to see where the shoe actually is! I actually went to L&D "for a headache"- I never get them and it coincided with gi-normous swelling. Man, the first nurse was so condensencing- like I wanted to be there- these are 2 symptoms of pre-eclampsia, nitwit!

3.)I can't help with the 'roid... I had some constipation in the 2nd trimester, but found the seed-iest bread that Whole Foods had and started my morning off with that, plus a few fruits & veggies, which did the trick. Now, TMI, there's enough pressure that I don't actually know if I'm going to "just pee" when I go to the bathroom. Every trip is a surprise! :D

4.)Ah, nighttime puking. Yes, I got this a couple of weeks ago and it's disgusting! Just when you fall asleep, about 20 minutes later for me, I'd wake up coughing so much I'd puke on myself! Definitely prop yourself up a bit, but try Pepcid AC or Zantac- my doc recommended Zantac, but I can't swallow pills and was told by the pharmacist that they are just as safe (Pepcid AC has a chewable). I take 1 right before bed and haven't had this problem since. Good luck & keep us posted!

You are not a wuss at all. It's not easy at all and you are doing a great job. I'm sorry you are feeling so uncomfortable and aren't sleeping, it's hard when just walking a bit gets you tired and you can't catch up on sleep, I know. Only a bit more momma and all this will be done and you'll have your little babies with you. It will be so worth it and most of this ;) will be forgotten. Hang in there. :youcandoit:

I'm so sorry that you're so uncomfortable. I'm not as far along as you are but I'm starting to get a bit uncomfortable now so I can't imagine what I'm going to feel like in a few months.

As for the constipation/hemorrhoids, I'm not sure if you're already on this but I recently found out that they make prenatal vitamins with stool softeners in them. I had been taking the same prenatal for years and had to borrow some from my SIL when I was out of town visiting her and forgot to bring mine. I may have been living under a rock and may sound like a complete dork but this has been my miracle discovery. She was taking one called CitraNatal 90 DHA and my OB says it's a good vitamin so I'm taking it now as well. I know in the grand scheme of things this one is pretty minor but it's made my pregnancy a little bit easier.

Whine away, you have paid your dues dear! I will probably be the same way when I reach 33 weeks. I just wanted to say, when you talk to your OB about the swelling, mention the heartburn too. That can actually be a precursor to Pre-E as well. My Peri said when Tums doesn't help anymore, it can be a sign.

Hang in there, do whatever you can to ease your pains!

Totallllly NOT a wuss! I felt just the same way as you did

I agree, propping your upper body up will help a little with the heartburn/reflux (and I ate a zillion tums at night)
Roids' are the worst :bad: - only thing I have to say is Tucks Medicated Pads :good:

Like Liz said...unbelievably you will get through this & this time will seem like a distant memory!

    Hang in there!!!

Thanks girls!! Seriously it helps so much just to be able to vent and know you're not alone. I am feeling better this afternoon, just got back from the OB and like you guys said, seeing them all growing and healthy takes a lot of the misery away! And they're both still head down, so counting my lucky stars there. The dr gave me a prescription to ease the reflux so I am crossing my fingers big time that it helps. I really expected my BP to be sky high...but it was actually lower than it has been- figures! The dr said my swelling was ridiculous even for twins but that it's just a part of it, and to try to find a pool warm enough to swim in. (I've been a regular at my neighborhood pool but it's not heated and it's gotten chilly at night here so the water isn't warm enough.) And that the itching was because of the sudden swelling, doesn't look like PUPPPS. Oh and you know what's weird? (TMI alert) I haven't had an issue with constipation at ALL the whole pregnancy, I just got a hemhorroid anyway...that's my luck. I got one a few years ago when I ran a marathon so I am kind of guessing that left me predisposed or something. But yes...I tried the Tucks this week and find them a huge help!! So I'll just keep pushing through it.

Thanks again for lifting me up! Hugs to all! :)

i agree with Twinlove, when this is all over you will forget (and quickly i might add) how horrific and uncomfortable this pregnancy was. i NEVER thought i would say i want another baby or that i miss my pregnancy belly but at just 6 weeks post delivery i am already saying "awwww, i want another baby" and "i miss my belly". and i had LOADS of complications, irritable uterus (starting at 17 weeks), numerous UTIs, gestational diabetes AND pre-eclampsia (which was diagnosed at 33 weeks). once i hit about 30 weeks i wanted those boys OUT there were no ifs ands or buts about it. but i kept moving along and, fortunately my boys' were healthy enough to come out at 35 weeks...although if they hadn't i surely would have gotten extremely sick (my toximia levels were through the roof).

hang in there mamma, it will all be over soon and you'll look back on this experience with only fond memories!

    good luck and congrats!!!!
