First off, big THANK YOU to tbrtwins for warning me about the Rainforest swing recall. I'm sort of glad I have to get rid of them because they weren't working anyway:) So now I'm left with choosing substitutes and my question is rather dumb, I believe. I hear everyone talk about bouncers and I know nothing about them. Do they actually BOUNCE on their own or does the baby/the mommy have to initiate the movement? Do any of you have recommendations. I think they might actually work because my little ones love when we hold them and bounce them and they love being patted on their bums really quickly (don't ask how we found that out. I promise we haven't started spanking them already ;) ) I plan on going to BRU tomorrow to pick just one up until my voucher comes. We can't go 6 to 8 weeks with NOTHING!

Helo, my twins are 16 weeks old and I found out yesterday at Walmart at the recall bulletin board. My problem is the same, what to get to replace it. I am down a swing.

Our bouncers are battery operated, just flip it on and it bounces.

You flip a switch on them and they vibrate. All three of my kids loved their bouncer chairs! It saved my bacon. Sometimes it seemed in the early days that the bouncers were the only way to keep them calm or happy. I would definetly recommend them.

About the bouncing thing, when they get older and they can kick then they get it to really bounce so make sure you buckle them in.

I recommend the Eddie Bauer Soothing Bouncenette - B Is For Bear. i got mine at a yardsale for $10 but you can get it brandnew at BRU here is the link: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?p...rentPage=family

I use it a lot indoors but the best part about it is tat it can be used outdoors since it has a net that zips up to keep bugs out. It is pretty big too, I can still fit both my newborns in it! I also like that the recline can be adjusted to multiple positions because it uses 2 zippers to pull in the slack.

i have 3 bouncers (excessive? maybe :) ) I keep one upstairs and 2 downstairs. They are lifesavers. They allowed us to have dinner while i hear my friends with singletons tell me that they haven't had dinner as a couple in months. ha!

All three bouncers are different but the one the kids (and I) like the best is the Fisher-price Rainforest bouncer. I know you are probably thinking - but that's the line that had the recall on the swing! Yes, that is true, but it only affects the open-top cradle swing. I have the other swing (big, not portable, but plugs into the wall) and it is another lifesaver but more expensive that the portable open-top one. The bouncer is one of the best because the toy bar is actually something they enjoy playing with. In other bouncers, they are either not well positioned (too far, can't reach) or the toys aren't that interesting. They LOVE the rainforest bouncer. Again, it was about $10 more than the other bouncer we bought but if i were to do it again, i would have just gotten 2 of this one instead! (We borrowed the 3rd one for upstairs.)

My girls LOVED their bouncy seats until they were 9.5 months old. In the beginning we just put them in them for soothing and down time. The seat would vibrate but it wouldn't bounce unless we did it. Once they started to kick a lot, that would bounce the seat. I couldn't imagine ever living without them!!

I also used mine early on to feed them their solids since our high chairs didn't recline.
