Need assistance from Twin moms with stroller recommendations..
We are expecting twins in Feb '08, and are desperatley trying to find a side by side stroller which accomodates two car seats. We found that most "Combi" brands only accomodate one car seat on the left side. Such a shame, as we like those strollers.

If there is no such thing, then we are interested in a tandem stroller, however where the car seats can face each other.
We are not in favor of the twins facing the same direction, behind one another...
    Any rocommendations?

Yes, to my knowledge there are no side/side that fit two seats.. we bought both Combis.. the side/side and the limo that does fit both seats..

Sorry, I don't know of any strollers that sound like what you described. I just wanted to put a good word in for the double snap n go stroller! It would have been even better had the seats faced each other, but it was no big deal. I could see both of them. It was light and very easy to use... I loved it! I was very upset a couple weeks ago when I finally gave it and switched the infant car seats out for the convertible seats. I miss the stroller!
    Good luck in your search!

I have the duoglider and right now my two have no problem with one behind the other (I also have a Combi SBS) BUT I do believe that the Peg Perego tandem can have both seats face forward or face to face so that babies are looking at one another.

Some SBS's will accomodate newborns as they recline FULLY all the way but most don't take 2 infant seats (pretty silly but most just accomodate a toddler and new baby and not the possiblity of twins)

I did like the SNG when they were smaller. They loved to watch me :) as we walked BUT now they love to watch and look around at the world around them.

    Good luck in your search!!

I've looked, and search, it doesn't exist. Only front back or side by sides that only take one.

Sorry, I wish somebody made a nice one too, but it's not the case.

So we started with the Snap n Go (mainly for the car), got the MBUD for walks and later got the MacLaren for the car once they outgrew the infant carriers (6 months or so; they were getting too big and heavy).

We love our Combi sbs but we did not use it for the infant seats. But as a pp said it is a nice newborn stroller with good recline and padding. I believe Kolcraft makes a stroller that the seats face each other and the same way your choice. I believe it is on the Target or BB R Us websites. Good luck with your search.

The Kolcraft Contours Options tandem has seats that can be configured to face each other. It comes with one car seat attachment. The website below states that you can buy a second car seat attachment for use with twins. However, I don't know if the seats can be facing each other when both car seat attachments are being used for infants.

I've been watching Twinstuff for a review of this stroller as my DD loves the look of it and the seat configuration options. Right now she is still using the Snap-n-Go and loves it. The babies don't face each other but they both face her which is great. They don't care at this point if they are looking at each other but as long as they can see Momma they're happy! It would be fun to have the Kolcraft tandem that gives them the option of facing each other when they're older (and NOT face each other when they're bickering!) and this stroller offers both. Target.com has some interesting reviews of this stroller.

This is an old posting but I have been researching strollers myself. Trying to get a little bit of R&D work done in advance :D . Anyway, this poster was asking about side by side strollers that car seats fit onto and I think that the Valco trimode twin does, does anyone have experience with this stroller? It appears that it would not be good for traveling by plane for some reason based on some reviews I saw, I am not sure why. Do you have an opinion about traveling with the Valco twin?

I was thinking about getting this stroller as our main stroller for most uses and then maybe the snap and go stroller frame for air travel. What do you think about that idea? Or, is there another lightweight, reasonable stroller that may fit the bill for traveling that we can snap car seats into?

    Thank you-

    Jules

From what research I have done, I can tell you that getting a double stroller for twins is difficult. Most stores do not sell twin stuff. We ended up sending back one stroller and two sets of car seats before we settled on the Graco. We were also picky because we needed to ensure that the seats fit in my car and my DW's car. Neither of us have mini vans.

Also, we thought that we wanted side by side, but we spoke to a number of parents with twins and some friends with two kids close in age. They told us that we should probably start off with a front to back. It is longer, but if you go anywhere and you have to go through a set of doors, you will understand, or so we were told. Our plan is to use the front to back now. And once they grow out of the rear facing, we will get a side by side jogging type stroller, and also keep the front to back for more flexibility.

Just food for thought. ANd, we found that babies r us do not stock the double snap and go any more. We did not want to buy on line since we had so many problems with BRU. I do think Target has them now. Just something to consider if you will have a shower and people get you gift cards. We are wishing we registered at target rather than BRU now, because we have had to take so many things back to our local BRU that the weekend manager and I are on a first name basis. I think she runs and hides when she sees me coming now. \

I too, have been looking everywhere for a versitile stroller that has all the features in one, but i don't think there is one atleast in the US....I broadened my search out across the border, and have come across firsthwheels.com and think this one is great for new borns and babies older than 6months. but it is SBS and might be harder to go thru store iles, etc. And I don't think that it can take car seats.....reluctantly i think i will go with the SNG, for the first many months, and then switch to the Graco Quattro Tour, I also like the Valco.

I also like the Peg-Perego Duette, but will most likely pass on it, b/c i hate the thought of taking everything apart just so i can put it into the trunk. I wish someone would make a do it all stroller.

There are more double strollers available now and more twin stuff being stocked in stores, which is good! Also, you have to be careful w/ the Target return policy. They have changed it and you cannot return anything w/out a receipt. Even if it is on your registry - you cannot return it. Because of that, I registered at BRU where you can return anything - receipt or no. Thankfully we have not had any problems with ordering anything online!

We are getting the double snap n go first, then we have the Maclaren Twin Techno which is a light side by side. It folds up small and handles well. I tried other strollers and they did not turn/steer very well at all. The Graco was just way too heavy.

This is the one I am getting. You can face the children towards each other or away from each other.

    Jules,

I just ordered the Valco Twin and although I do not plan to use the car seats on this stroller-I opted to buy the SNG for the first few months until they outgrow it. The sales lady told me that you can fit a "Graco" car seat (which style, I have no idea) and a Peg Perego car seat at the same time. Somewhat inconvenient if you have already bought car seats. I have two Peg car seats, so it was not an option to go out and buy ANOTHER Graco seat! But it can be done. I think Valco's website says you can only get one car seat on the stroller at a time. Why they would not design the stroller or any double stroller with this in mind is beyond me!

    Hope this helps.

    Heather:)

I will put in a positive note for the Peg Perego. I have the triple, so a different ball of wax altogether. But any- hoo... I was also afraid of having to take it apart and re- assemble each time I use it. Like I do not already have enough to do when we go out and about??? But I crumpled under the pressure of a GREAT deal on EBAY... she had misspelled the stroller name and I got the triple for like $150 including shipping!

I have the Duo Glider for other purposes, and the Peg Perego Triplet when I go out with all 3... which is most of the time. getting back on track, to compare the 2 strollers, I actually prefer the Peg Perego. The DuoGlider is very bulky IMO to lift in and out of the car. I cannot get it to stay in place in the back of my full- sized SUV (Nissan Armada). And it does not fit safely when the 3rd row is in use. That is only a double stroller. If I throw it into the front passenger seat (main backup when 3rd row in use), I have little room for my bags, and NO room for another passenger in front.
On the other hand, the Peg Perego seats were BEAUTIFULLY engineered!! When I take the seats out of the stroller base, the seats fit PERFECTLY behind the 3rd row when in use! I can stack 2 to save space and still have tons of room for other items from the shopping trip. ...but wait there's more! LOL. The base (and this is the TRIPLE) fits (AGAIN) PERFECTLY under the 3rd row seating!!! It is SO flat!! (If you are considering the triple, the 3rd seat sits in back and can be filled with bags.)

I assemble and disassemble the stroller next to the windows where the boys sit so we can always see each other. It only takes a second. I have NEVER had trouble getting it up or down or apart or together. On the other hand, the Duo Glider (which I love for other purposes) is hard to collapse and open for me. And I do not say that lightly. I consider myself basically a tom boy. I am 5'9" and about 200 pounds of I can do anything.

Sorry this is long. But I just wanted to tell you that the extra few seconds of assembly is more than compensated for in performance and convenience for me...

I confirmed that the Valco definately takes only one infant seat.

I guess that I am down to 4 choices now given the car seat requirement. It looks like it cannot be a SBS and needs to be a tandem to accomodate two infant seats. Top of the list is the Peg Perego, then combi counterpart 2, then in no order- Kolcraft countours and Graco duoglider.

If anyone has any major drawbacks to these, I am all ears. Someone said that the Graco was too heavy.

Wow, finding a stroller seems to be the most stressful part of having twins-so far anyway. I have spent hours searching for a stroller to accomodate my twins and their toddler sister. At this point, it's not happening! They make those that have a seat in the back, kind of like a bench. Does anyone have experience with those?

Also, my sister had the Graco Duoglider for her twins and felt it was "crap". It literally fell apart and they threw it out.

I think I will get the SNG for the beginning, but after that I am still not sure. I tend to like the side-by-side ones better. With three children that young though, I probably won't ever leave the house without help. Definitely not without a place for my two-year old to sit.
