One of my babies has developed a pretty bad red area in the crease on the side of her neck. My husband stays at home and takes care of them during the day and I know he doesn't wash them like he should. Now her neck is all red and raw from constant turning and leaning her head to one side and milk dribbling in. Aside from trying to keep it clean, what should I do about the rash? One person has told me to put A&D on it another has told me to put baby powder on it. Also I am worried about her developing torticolis from holding her head in this position so much, should I be concerned?

Claire has the same rash going on in the crease of her neck. I put Desitin on it today to see if that worked. If it doesn't, I will ask the nurse tomorrow about it when I pick up formula at the office.

Ds had bad torticollis and that happened alot. I put Balmex on it so I am sure whatever diaper creme you use will work. But I'd definitely mention it tomorrow. Also about the torticollis, it can't hurt for you to be concerned. I mean no need to get frantic or anything but definitely mention it to your doctor. And try to get dd to turn her head in the uncomfortable direction as much as possible by positioning her so she has to turn to see the "all the action." The earlier you can take care of this the better. We didn't know any better and we didn't start therapy until 6 months and he is alot better but still has a ways to go.

My DD has torticollis and she also had the red raw skin from milk dribbling into it. We used Destitin CREAMY and she was better in 2 days. I swear by that stuff with all four of my kids. Also, it can't hurt to get her checked out for tort. My DD started PT at only 3 months old - the ped said something to us at 2 mo check up and started receiving therapy 3 wks later\

Now, they are checking my DS for PT. I wish I would have had them both checked out at 2 mo. He is 4 mo old on the 27.

My DS had toriticollis and also had this rash. I was hypervigilant about using a burp cloth to block the dribble while he was eating (in my opinion, the bib just made things worse) and my ped. said to use vaseline on the rash. I also had to use hydrocortisone over the counter .5% and they eventually perscribed something stronger. Definitly ask you ped about both the toricollis and the rash.

My daughter had this with her torticollis, it has since gone away with P/T, but when the rash was present we actually just dabbed a little cornstarch on the rash and it dried it right up.

I swear by Boudreaux's Butt Cream (funny name, I know, but it's excellent and you can find it at Walmart).
