In Dec, be brought Nicholas to the ER (dr office was closed) because he would not move his neck without being in pain. They tested for menangitis which he did not have and took blood and ended up determining that he had a virus. This morning, the same thing. He is in so much pain so I am taking him to his ped. in about an hour. When laying down, I try to pull him up with his arms and his head lags behind. Just wondering if you ever experienced this. Yesterday we were in a pool and my hd was throwing and catching him. He did not throw him high at all but I wonder if his neck got strained. Any thought???

I don't know Nicole, let us know what the ped says...poor punkin. :( Did he have torticollis issues? I have no idea if it could be related or not, just a thought.

Well, my ped was not there so he had to see another one. (The same one who when my boys were two months, I called with a question because I thought I gave S too much water at one time because after I gave the water, he was screaming. The ped said that is not a reason to have him paged). ANYWAYS, he again got me mad enough today again not to return. I will be switching offices. Way to much to type but basically I HATE his tone/personality/whatever!

He says it is nothing and probably just a stiff neck. Lets hope he is right. I remember when it happened to him in Dec though they said it cant be a stiff neck because babies dont have those muscles yet. Maybe he has those muscles now...who knows...he would not give me a straight answer for anything.

The good thing is Nicholas is happy as can be right now and is not in pain!

My initial thought was maybe he slept on it wrong or something?

I would definitely be switching offices with people like that! If you aren't satisfied with their opinions, I would get another.

 Nicole! I have a few of those peds in the practice that we go to as well. When we were going through our reflux battle, with babies refusing bottles, one had the nerve to say "Well, how FAT do you want them to be?" and "Are you getting some rest?", and it wasn't in a "caring" tone either! It was more like a "you are nutso lady, go get some sleep!" tone! UGH!

But on a positive note, I am glad to hear that he is feeling better!

That is so annoying. You are your son's MOTHER - you know his every facial expression, his every cry and YOU know when something is not right. It's rude and inappropriate for a doctor to tell you "it's nothing" when it's clearly something. Even if it IS just a stiff neck, he could have made some suggestions - a hot compress, massage, anything.
