Anyone else taking medication for nausea? I don't take it every day, but when I'm having a particularly tough time (i.e., can't function and spend all my time lying down or in the bathroom), I take a Zofran. My doc says it's safe, but I'm still uneasy about it.

    Any other experiences out there?

At 18 weeks, my old doctor gave me an RX for one, I refused to take it. Im trying to put very few drugs in my body as possible this pregnancy aside from my prenatal and iron. He didnt seem to respect that. Less than 2 weeks later most of my morning sickness was gone! I did loose a bit of weight, but I had the weight to loose!

I took phenagran for about 4 months. I was not just nauseous, but sick. I couldn't have lived without it.

I took Zofran for 36 weeks 2 days. I threw up for the last time on the OR table. (I was strapped down and had to use a buck and suction thing.....LOVELY) Every time I tried to go off the Zofran, I was back to being SO sick.

Zofran gave me a life and a will to eat at all. I was NEVER not nauseous but I was not puking the whole time. I couldn't have lived without it! I have very healthy happy 3.5 yr. old twins with NO side effect problems from the meds!!

    Good luck!

Take the medicine!!!! Your life will be so much easier and studies have shown it is safe. I was so nervous too about taking phenergan, but could not keep down fluids or any nutrients. I took it for weeks at a time and it was the only way I made it through some days. I'm 24 weeks now and my girls are looking good.

As an alternative, my peri suggested extra vitamin B and a Unisom combination but I stuck with the phen.

I took zofran. :good: It didn't take the symptoms away 100% but it sure did help me live somewhat normal from day to day. My nausea was so bad that I could only lay in bed, and even that was hard. Once I started taking the zofran it was more bearable. I agree with the previous poster, take it!!!!

I took Zofran from 8 weeks until I delivered. Like PPs I too would get extremely sick without it. It made me feel 100% better. Every time I would try to not take it and see how I would do, I'd end up over the toilet, and in bed from being so sick. My babies are totally fine (so far)!

If youre not comfortable taking the meds and looking for a natural alternative, Papaya Enzyme will also work, or raw papaya if you can afford it and have a source for buying it where you are. I have had terrible heartburn this pregnancy that will actually cause me to vomit, very strange, but the papaya works beautifully.

I've been sick too, lost 2 lbs at my last appointment so the Dr gave me a prescription but I havent filled it yet. I also was feeling scared to take it. The sickness subsided last week, but came back big tme last night....so now I may reconsider after reading everyones posts, thanks

I have been wondering how it works with heartburn.. Im finding NO relief with Tums, or OTC stuff. My suggested Papaya Enzyme, but I wasnt sure... Now I might just give it a try!

I've been taking 20mg Nexium for a week now and it has worked wonders! I mean, I was getting acid reflux from drinking crystal light. Now, I can eat Mexican food or pizza and go straight to bed with no side effects! My OB prescribed it when the Zantac stopped working and my pharmacist is also one of my best friends who assures me it is safe.

Hope you get some relief soon!
