It always seems like when I put the boys down for their naps and they FINALLY fall asleep, out come all the noises that wake them up. If it's not the neighbors dog barking it's the garbage truck or stupid construction noises. URGGH, this makes me SO MAD. I have wanted to run out and yell at the construction workers and tell them to shut the heck up, I'm sure they would think I was crazy though.
Anyway, I need some advice or recommendations on White noise machines or CD's....thanks!

What about a fan in their room or a humidifier? Thats what we use as 'white noise.'

A fan or a humidifier would be ideal. Or maybe you can place a radio in their room on a blank station? That always seems to zone my boys out and block any outside noise.

I had a noise machine/alarm clock radio that my BIL had given me as a Xmas gift the year before I got pregnant. I put it in the girls room. It has different settings like the beach, a waterfall, rain, thunder, summer night, etc. It's pretty neat. I think you can get them at Bed Bath and Beyond or Target.

i have a fan, a humidifier, a battery operated white noises (so it has no cords) and we recently got a plug in one, too. if you want a plug in one it's great! it's by homedics, has like 4 sounds and a couple songs and even has little film things to project pix on the ceiling. and the best part is it only cost 20 bucks!

check it out.... i think you can find it at the bed, bath and beyond website.

We have a Conair white noise machine and love it. We also play the Smooth Jazz radio station - it's been a big hit from the time they were really little! As additional insurance, we run the $20 Cool Mist Humidifier we bought at Walgreen's recently.

We have also run a humidifier and a radio either with a lullabye CD or an easy listening station on to help with noise.

Definitely white noise, my girls and I cant sleep without it, we could probably sleep through an explosion. I picked it up at BRU for less than $20. I use the rain setting because its a steady sound as opposed to the ocean and such fading in and out. I also use a humidifier during the winter and a fan during the summer. Lots of white noise! :)

White noise machines are great. but I like you moved last summer, from a nice quiet area to a house on the corner with 2 stops signs that no one stops at, and when they do, its to see how loudly they can squeal their tires. So yeah, I know how you feel.

What I did was just buy them a little cd player with a baby mozart cd. They love it. The first time it happened tho, I turned on a fan in the hallway (it was a little chilly for them) and they have an animal that plays "nighttime music) it says 6 minutes til night-night. And then let them go. It usually only takes that long for them to fall asleep.

I know all to much about this subject <_< I live by a airport. Not a normal one, mine has old (LOUD) planes, and the people have nothing better to do then fly them around alllllll day right over my house! (I'm trying to work up the nerve to call and tell them they are tresspassing in my air space!) Not like thats enough, but a house was just built next door so you can imagine...
Sorry for the little vent  .
I have lots of fans and a radio in their room that I turn up a little more then I would say in normal?
