    Hi ladies!

OK, I have a problem. My boys are 20 months now and my son Cohen has not really napped ALL week. <_< And he gets CRANKY. I'll put them down like I have for so long and he'll seem like he's going to sleep and then 10 mins. later he's up and screaming his head off. I have never been afraid to let him CIO so we've tried that. I've also tried moving their naps a bit later, I've tried wearing them out more than usual and nothing has worked.

It's been one rough week with mommy not having anytime to do anything. My other son Ethan still happily sleeps for 2 - 3 hours and sometimes even longer. Has anyone else ever had this problem and please tell me it passes. :cray:

I realize at some point they will stop napping all together but isn't this too early? I don't know if I can handle a cranky, whiny not even two year old all day long at this point. I'm finding it super hard.

Any words of wisdom or advice...anything to help...I don't even know at this point. They only went to one nap a day about 3 months ago.

    Thank you for the help.

    Hi Brandi!
My boys went to one nap at 17 months as well and are still taking wonderful 3 hour naps at 24 months!!!! We did have something like what you are describing as well and yes it passed!! Thank goodness!!! One would wake somewhere between 15-30 minutes and I'd sometimes have luck trying to put him back down again and sometimes not at all!!!! I have had it with the other little guy a few times. Once in awhile they'd CIO- but that was rare. Mu guess is teething- but who knows really??? Sometimes I ended up just cuddling in the chair with Paul and drifting off myself- since I couldn't get anything else done I guess catching up on a little sleep was next best thing!!! I did always keep their night time routine the same and make them stick with 8 p.m. bedtime. So I think eventually, it must of caught back up with him and he was tired at naptime!
    Best wishes!
    Lanie

Brandi - Jackie has done this a few days here and there, but then it's passed. No real words of advice, I just hope yours is a phase, too. :hug99: :hug99:

Brandi, I think it will probably pass. Is he getting teeth? Or has he been sick & just having a hard time getting back into the routine? All of my older 3 stopped napping before they were 2 but if he is getting really cranky without sleep, then he probably still needs his nap. Poor little baby bug (and momma!). Hopefully it's a phase that will pass quickly! :hug99:

Tina mentioned it, but are they getting their molars? C&C were so thrown off when they got theirs!

Brandi, I'm sorry, that must be hard. :hug99: No one likes cranky kids. I am hoping it is a phase too, probably is. I too was wondering if it is his teeth, or something like that.

Iwould try moving his nap up by 30mins and see if that helps. Maybe also try rocking him for just a min or two before hand to calm him. No matter what I would ride this out, leave him in the crib for atleast 1hr, you need the down time and most likely this is just a phase :hug99:

    Brandi,

Arwen has done this to me several times. There was a good 2 weeks where she was only napping maybe 2-3 days of the week. It was EXHAUSTING!! Sometimes I would have to let her lay down in my bed and stay with her for a good 20 minutes before she would pass out (and gosh did I want to pass out myself). Then there were some days where she just wouldn't fall asleep and I'd call it quits and bring her down stairs. On those days at least, she would go down a bit earlier and fall RIGHT to sleep. For the most part lately (because we have been going to the park/beach almost every morning) she is passing out, usually in the car and I can transfer her but I notice when we don't go out, it is harder to get her to fall asleep. She still will not take a nap now and then and if I leave her in the crib she is just so freakin' loud that I end up taking her out so that Lorien can sleep in peace! I think it's just a phase. I don't know why it happens but I know there is no way she is completely ready to give up naps. A friend of mine from my twin group suggested trying to put her down for a nap every other day instead of every day. It kind of worked and eventually she worked herself back into daily napping. Now if she would just fall asleep at night!!! <_< She has been in her crib for an hour already and she is still awake!!
