Naps

When do they switch to 2 naps a day instead of 3. With bottles, solids and 3 naps, I feel like we are so confined to this house and I NEED to get out!

 

Mine still need 3 naps! (But they are weirdos, a lot of babies are on 2 naps by this age.)

 

I feel confined to the house, too, only mine nap 4 times/day so I'm hoping to drop to 3 naps/day soon! I know it's not the best, but luckily my boys nap well in their stroller, so I tend to schedule 'shopping' around naptime so they can sleep through it (but it can backfire on me too!)....

 

I just made the switch to two. The third nap left them grouchier/groggier than refreshed. They are still adjusting to the switch, but on the whole the other two naps are longer and of better quality than before, which is SO nice. I would say you'd know if they really fight the third nap. I stretched the distance between the first and second nap and that seems to be working well. Good luck!

We went to 2 naps a day when they started at daycare, which was just over 6 months. They nap at around 8:30 and again at around 2:30. They usually nap for 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs.

 

We're working on transitioning from 3 to 2 right now, but even on days that they only have 2, I'm still confined to the house.

 

We went down to 2 naps around 6 months. When you do switch, it helps to try to stretch the time between the 1st and 2nd naps and move bedtime earlier.
