Did you put your 2mo olds down for naps? Or just let them fall asleep on their own whereever and whenever?

Also for almost 2wks now my girls are doing a 4-6hr stretch when I first put them down at night, but then they are still up every 2-2.5 hrs to eat after that. Any way to get them to do another long stretch? Or it will come on their own in time?

(I did ask for HSHHC for xmas!! :) )

Nope at 2 months they were sleeping whenever where-ever.. usually in their swings, boppies, or a pnp in the living room. I didn't start putting them down for naps in their cribs untill about 4 months, but I probably should have started a little earlier than that.

That is exactly what my boys are doing!! They sleep from 6pm til midnight, then they are up every 2.5 hours or so until we get up at 7. It's hard because I don't go to bed until 10.

About the naps...I am still just letting them sleep wherever. But for a week or so I did put them down for an offical naps in thier crib, and it worked ok. I still think they were a little young for that b/c they needed to be patted and held to get them to stay alseep. I went back to just letting them take naps in my bed b/c they sleep longer and harder there. I think it's just a matter of getting them used to sleeping in a new place, but as exausted as I am right now, I just want them to sleep.

Hannah is doing the same. She sleeps from around 8:30 pm-12 or 1 am and then is up every 2.5-3 hours after. I'm glad I'm not the only one! She also naps whenever and where ever, although she is starting to develop more of a pattern and sleeping around the same time each day. I'll probably start her more on a schedule around 12 weeks.

Right around 8 weeks I started putting the twins down for naps in their cribs. I would wrap them tightly in their Miracle Blankets, and down they went. If they woke up early, I would shift them to the swings which were kept right by the cribs.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,
My twins are 11 weeks (boy/girl) and I am putting them down in their cribs. Boy goes down easy with paci and semi-swaddled. Girl has to be caught just before she gets cranky and sometimes wants a paci, swaddled with 1 arm free. It's still a bit crazy though and my 3 yr old often interrupts the process. I do very little soothing because it it. I use the swing before nap but they tend to fall asleep if I'm not watching. Then it is impossible to put them down!
I started this at about 8 weeks but it's been a struggle.

My girls are 14 weeks. They need a little help going to sleep but I have been practicing putting them down for their naps every time. I've been doing this since 6 weeks. Slowly (by about 8 weeks) they "got it" on the morning nap. I swaddle and put them into the crib with binkies. I still have to do binkie patrol for about 15 minutes but they take a very good morning nap every day. Slowly we are getting the same results with the rest of the naps. I would suggest trying to keep their sleep routine the same for naps (swaddle, music, kisses and in the crib) but getting the sleep is equally as important so if they will only sleep in swings or bouncies definitely do let them...just try the crib first so they start to get familiar. We are really starting to see good results as the girls slept 11 hours last night! The four hour stretch you are getting will start to get longer and may move to a different time too. I also put binkies in when they wake in the middle of the night and sometimes they fall back asleep instead of eating.

Our pediatrician gave us a great suggestion. He said when the babies are happy put them in their crib for 10 or 15 minutes and leave them alone so they can get used to being alone and so they associate the crib with happy. We also do this once or twice a day. I will put them in and pick up the room or take a quick shower and take them out to play before they cry.

    Good luck!
