Especially on a day they really need it.

I always base it on if they got a good snooze in in the morning, or what the rest of the day looks like. Typically, the longest I go is 2 hours.

I so seldom wake a sleeping baby. At the age they are now, I go by the clock... if it gets after 5, I'll wake, but I don't go by how long they've been down. I guess I figure that perhaps they are not feeling well and just need some extra sleep on that day. Mine never slept well, so I never needed to really wake them.

i think i would just let them go! of course, depends on the time of the nap. if they have been sleeping a couple hours, and it is getting to within a couple hours of bedtime, i would probably wake them. otherwise, i'd let them go. how long are we talking here? i think our MAX has been 3 hrs- and that is at the sitter's, NEVER for me!!!!! of course!!!!!!

They had been napping for almost 2 and a half and 3 hours when I posted and of course they woke up right after. LOL It all worked out ok.

    You took my answer!! :p

Seriously, now I wouldn't let one sleep an hour longer than the other or then my "dream" schedule (that will happen one day!??!) is ruined...But, that is my only rule.

Ditto...I'd probably keep thinking til we got to 72 hrs so I could get a few things done.

You took my response! Oh I wish sometimes they would nap longer then 1-2 hours but they are pretty set w/ about an hour give or take depending on how full they are...

I won't let them go much past 2 hours, just to preserve the next nap/bedtime. Also won't let one sleep more than 30 minutes longer than the other to keep them on schedule. Unfortunately I can count on 3 fingers the number of times they have napped together for 2 hours!

I never wake them unless it's past 6pm. They go to bed about 8:30 so I won't let them sleep much past 6pm.

3 hours is my max for the afternoon nap so bedtime doesn't get screwed up. Mornings the most they sleep is usually 2 hours.
