My 18mo. olds, god bless them, are still taking two naps a day. When do they cut down to one? I forget these things!!!!!

    Thanks,
    Crystal

Crystal, I'd let them taking two for as long as they wanted/needed them! ;) My two went down to one nap at 18 months.

I'd say change them to one when the afternoon one starts interfering with bedtime. I went to one nap around 13 months with these two. I went to one nap around 10 months with my other 3.

I think at about 14-15 months mine went to one 2-2&1/2 hour nap a day. Heather's advice sounds good - change it when it interferes with bedtime. They may not be ready for one nap if they get too sleepy or cranky before their usually bedtime.

Mine were on one nap at 16 months (13 months at daycare, but that was too early). But if yours are still taking two and that works for you, I don't see a reason to change it!

Same here!! Sometimes, if they need it...I still give them a second nap. Do what is working - mine naturally went to one nap. Good luck.

I changed mine to one nap at 17 months in preparation for my oldest DD's school starting up a month later. It was getting too hard to cram 2 naps into her school day since I have to get her to/from school.

But if everyone is fine with it, keep them taking 2 naps, if that works for you.

My DDs kind of naturally moved to one nap at about 15 months. They used to do one around 9:00-10:30 (they wake up around 6am) and then another around 2:00, but now they just take one from about 10:30-12:30/1:00. They just weren't getting tired as early in the morning anymore and then when we moved the "morning nap" to 10:30-ish they weren't tired for another nap around 2:00. At first I was disappointed that the 2 nap days were over, but it has actually been nice that we have the entire PM to do things!

My son, Justin cut his nap at 15 mos w/1 nap per day. While my daughter has now finally giving up her 2nd shorter nap at 18 mos. I am still dealing w/their early riser at 5 or 6 AM. We don't get them out until 6:30 AM in the hope they would fall asleep but it is not working yet. If I have an activities for them to go in the AM, they usually go down for their nap right after lunch. But if I am at home in the AM then they are 80% of the time they nap by mid-morning.

I would rather they nap after lunch so we can go to many events with our playgroup in the morning. So I got 2 things I am dealing w/one w/early riser and then transitioning their nap to after lunch.

FYI: Last night, John and I decided to give them a break and see if they will go to bed later (they usually go down at 7;30 pm) but we decided to have a late dinner and shop at Target. It was almost 9 pm and we figured they may be able to sleep IN and sure enough Rianna was up at 5 AM. No matter what time they are in bed they still early riser! Any word of advice would be helpful too.

    D, w/Rianna and Justin (19 mos)

ours just turned 19 months and we are still on two per day :D
there are times when they do more talking and laughing than sleeping but as long as they are good in there room
and i can get some things done than its fine with me.
