Somehow, naps have gotten all screwed up. They usually go down at 9AM for their first nap, then down again around 1-1:30. Well, they are back to taking up to/over an hour to fall asleep in the AM and not waking up until sometimes close to 11, if they even fall asleep. If they sleep in the morning, then they barely sleep in the PM, sometimes not falling asleep until 3!!!

Are they trying to tell me that it's time for only 1 nap? When they don't sleep in the morning, the PM naps are great (duh!).

Anyone else dealing with/dealt with this? SHould I try the 1 nap for a while and see how it goes? I hate to lose that morning nap - ugh.

    Thanks!!

I totally understand wanting to keep 2 nap so you can get some rest, house chore, and etc. Unfortunately at 15 mos, my son Justin goes down to 1 nap while my daughter still have her 1-1/2 nap, ha!

They are both early riser at 6 AM no matter what time I put them to bed. It just seem to be a very bad habit body waking and can't get them to sleep past 7 AM. So, they both do a mid-morning nap at 10 to 10:30 AM and sleep until 12:30ish to 1 PM. I make their lunch ready when they get up. My daughter like to go down for a short nap 30 to 40 mins between 3 to 4 PM. They have their dinner at 5:30ish and bed no later than 8 PM. They are usually chatting, play with their toys in crib, or jumping up and down in the crib for a good 15 mins before they can settled in their sleep.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

My girls did something similar around a year and it was driving me nuts. They were not sleeping well for one nap, and doing a marathon for the other. I tried to go down to one nap, but felt they still needed the two.

I ended up continuing to put them up there twice a day, and left them in there for an hour whether they slept or not. It was a phase for us and they went back to 2 naps for another couple of months.

We didn't switch to one nap until around 16 months. They may be ready, but they may not be. I would try waking them at the time that naptime should be over, rather than just letting them sleep--that may jump them back into their "old" routine. If it doesn't, you can try one nap. Mine went from 2 2hour naps to one 3-4 hour nap, so I pretty much got the same amount of time, just in one block, instead of two.
